I think what you meant to ask was, when Grant took Richmond, where did he take it to? He took it with him, of course.

Travelling down the Hiway at 60mph and I jump out my body tends to decrease in speed and crash when it lands on Earth , why then if in the same car a Fly sitting on the Dash jumps into the air and he remains suspended until he lands some where unharmed , why isn't he smashed into the rear window if car is so equipped??

I can answer that one. The car, you, the fly, and the air in your car, are all moving at 60 mph relative to the ground and the air around the car. The air inside the car is completely contained inside the car, and so it moves with the car, hence why it seems still. The fly can move around inside the car without trouble. But just watch when you shoo that same fly out an open window on the car; the fly disappears behind the car faster than your eye can track. This is because he's going from air that is moving at 60 mph to air that is standing still.

Hope I explained it well enough. It made sense in my Physics class, but I'm not that good at explaining.

Blue

Here is another one I can't figure out. Where does the rubber go that comes off of a tire as it wears out. Stan

Chief,

As someone who lived in LA for a few years, I can answer that. Tire rubber goes into the air, where it falls out on your car, house, sidewalk and everything else. Wash your white car on Sunday and leave it parked outside; it will be pitch black by Saturday.

The way snow"s crystalline structure reflects light makes it look white, which of course disappears when it melts.

When in doubt ask Wikipedia

"At the beginning of April 1865, Grant"s relentless pressure finally forced Lee to evacuate Richmond, and after a nine-day retreat, Lee surrendered his army at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865. There, Grant offered generous terms that did much to ease the tensions between the armies and preserve some semblance of Southern pride, which would be needed to reconcile the warring sides. Within a few weeks, the American Civil War was effectively over; minor actions would continue until Kirby Smith surrendered his forces in the Trans-Mississippi Department on June 2, 1865."

April 2, 1865 - Grant's forces begin a general advance and break through Lee's lines at Petersburg. Confederate Gen. Ambrose P. Hill is killed. Lee evacuates Petersburg. The Confederate Capital, Richmond, is evacuated. Fires and looting break out. The next day, Union troops enter and raise the Stars and Stripes.

April 4, 1865 - President Lincoln tours Richmond where he enters the Confederate White House. At one point he sits at the desk of Jefferson Davis for a few moments.

I once had a pet frog that croaked, but that was when I was kid back in the 1950's.
