Back in those days everybody here planted white corn. We had a hominy mill in town that paid premium prices. Anyway, one particular year we planted some Stull's and it literally saved us from going broke. This was the year of the blight. All the other hybrid varieties we planted that year died very late in maturity and went down bad and yielded terrible. That particular Stull's variety was resistant and made top yields.

There used to be a Stull's sign hanging on a huge tree on one of our farms along the roadside. I always said I was going to get it and hang it in the barn. Somebody else beat me to it. It's long gone now. If I remember right, It had a picture of a man on it (kinda like a Kentucky Colonel) and ears of corn on both sides of him.

I don't remember Stull Hybrids being sold in Northern Ill. but does any one remember"Tomco Genetic Giant Hybrids"? They were bought by Anderson -Clayton Co. and probably went down the tube in the 1980's.
