I was down at the IH dealer looking at the new tractors with loaders. Most all the loaders are joystick controlled, and on the joystick they often have one or two small buttons. What do these buttons do? The joystick runs both the lift and tilt, so the only think I can figure is maybe float or a solenoid valve for a grapple? Anybody know? Thanks

The one at work has that, the 2 buttons are for the grapple the left one closes it and the right one opens it, but you just push the buttons you don't have to push them and move the stick that way you can tilt and close the grapple at the same time.

I've seen that set up on newer loader tractors. Press and hold the button to make the joystick operate the grapple instead of the tilt(I think). It works like you said, by operating a solenoid to switch flow from one set of cylinders to the other.
