Went up in the hills this morning and threw out a few bales of hay to his old cows since he is away in Arizona.

It certainly was a hardship on me as ya know I'm used to a little higher quality tractor/loader in my old H. :>)

Allan I was going to use one of those this summer to load some hay, couldn't figure out how to start it, had to take the baler off mine. Jim

Did you go feed in yer bath robe and slippers, or did you have to put on a coat and boots just to get to the tractor?

Ain't no need in havin' a tractor big enough to scare all the cows away! Yew might need to take a spray can of IH red with next time you go feed. Paint that cab up nice, and them cows won't high tail it to the next county. : )

How come when I do chores for others I get one that won't start and has no cab.

Allan you must have better friends to do chores for than I do.

It ain't fair. {:~{)

Next thing we know Allan will be lookin for a loader for that 966 hes puttin the refurbished cab on.

Then he will need a FWA to put on it.

The way I see it Allan your gonna be modifing that 966 for ever,if you keep running the neighbors tractors.(:~})

Well...if he puts on a loader and FWD, then I think he ought'a get GPS so's we can keep an eye on 'em. Might even think about one of them "field office's" like the new Deeres got in 'em.

Looks like fun, but somehow not quite as fun as doing the same job with a smaller tractor.
You know what they say....it's not the size that matters....

Hey what's up with all those green trees? Are they cedars or what....most of them don't look like pines.

Dunno,

I call 'em Jack Pine. Think the correct name is Ponderosa Pine, maybe?

Yepper, I have absolutely no desire for a powershift 4X4 tractor. My old junk suits me just fine. 'Tis a nice grapple, but hate that "joystick" thingy tho. :>)

Actually, the two trees are very different. The Ponderosa Pine is widespread across the Western US. I'm familiar with them in the Inland NW, they tend to grow very well-spaced on ridge tops.

Jack Pine, in my area, is slang for a "worthless" small pine that has no commercial or personal value (i.e. fence material, firewood, etc.).

The proper folks here in Colorado calls 'em Ponderosa. I think Ben and Hoss hybridized them..... .....

They are just as hardy as a dandelion or thistle (aka them @#$!!@# Pink Dudes).

BTW Allan, the plates for the loader braces are costing $26, cut and drilled. I had 'em made so I can add a brace to the bottom like you said, but only about 4" below the bottom of the slots on the frame rail.

yeah I have heard them called jack pines. I'd have to see them up close to tell you for sure.

I'm just not used to seeing round-topped pines, but they are good looking trees.

I'd love to visit that part of the country sometime, seems like a different world than western NY.

Boy, he ought to be a little more considerate. Making you ride around in that modern tractor when you frequent a antique tractors website. Think of the gossip & the rumors. Should have hauled the H out there just to maintain your reputation:)
