I have a 1972 4020. It has 3521 original hours on it. The sheet metal is excellent w/VG original paint. I did repaint the rims and wheels as I have put new tires on it. My question is should I repaint it or leave it original as far as value added? Thank you for any feedback.

Back to the original question... Please don't repaint that tractor. Even if the paint is faded through in spots. You can always paint it later, but you can never "un-paint" it again.

How 'bout some pics?

Back to the original question, if the original paint looks good I would leave it original. I think a lot of paint jobs are just to cover up problems. My two cents.

Tim

I'd leave as is. There is an overwhelming demand for a tractot like yours both in the collecting and farming communities. It would not be uncommon for your tractor to bring $12,000.00 or more, depending on it's appearance and options. I saw one similar to your's in hours bring $17,500.00 this past fall on a farm sale not far from here.

I will say this; after ALL the attempted tractor deals you have written on here, and then to offer this man $6000. You sure have your nerve. If you were on my farm and pulled a stupid stunt like that; I would show you the gate in no uncertain terms; and would tell you when the gate hit you in the axx, don't look back and stay off the place.

I tell you if in 12 years we are sitting here sayin "Well I give you 16,0000.00 and I read Ahh no I could not take any less the 35,000.00 I am just going to just fall OUT!!!"

But hey around the state of Georgia you could buy land for $600 an acre 12 years ago too, but now there is hardly any in the whole state for less than $2,000.00 per acre, so who knows. The price of steel will also drive the price of tractors.

I think raleigh should just buy a tractor already. Save himself the trouble of having to post on this forum countless times.

I go to church too, but I really don't think that you should use the Lord's name just to come up with a reply to the Tx person.
