Hey Guys, Can a guy take a mast from any forklift and fix it on the 3 point hitch? I have a 2-70 White I'd like to do that with. Also I need to repaint this tractor. YOur opinions, should I paint as original, or "red stripe" it. THanks, Joel

I have been around a few of these and they are for the most part very good at a very reasonable price. A mistake made by a farmer who was helping us one day was the 3 point settled down on him when he had lifted alot of plywood to the roof for us. It was a little side hill, but we were getting away with some pretty large lifts. Anyway while the mast was very high I jumped on to skid some plywood off. The 3 piont being partly up made a hinge point on the 3 piont lift arms. You know there is no solid lift arm at this position, nor down pressure, so the up hill arm came up enough to make it tip extreemly downhill. It tipped against another lean to roof and stopped it from tipping over. Was just one of those dumb things that happen. NE IA Dave

They usad to make fork lifts for rough ues such as construction out of tractors mostley Fords . would turn ring gear over to make tractor run in reverse also turn seat & stering around put fork lift boom on and go . you can still find a few around sometimes . would make good fork lift for farms.

I did exactly what you are thinking about. I do not know the brand of the forklift mast, but basically all I did is weld some ears to it for the lift pins.

I used it for a while on a MF 275. For the top link you will need a hydraulic cylinder to give some tilt. Don"t forget to put a swivel on one end of the top link to avoid stress breakage.

There is a lot of weight in the unit, but it wasn"t a problem for me, even without front weights on the tractor. I put a spear on it to load round bales. I went up about 10 feet from the ground. Depending on what forklift mast, you can easily go higher.

I haven"t used mine in several years after I finally got a front end loader. But it was an economical way to move and lift stuff.

Joel, i'd be most concerned with the weight of it, before you even forked anything - Most have some pretty substantial steel in them. Years ago I saw one on a Ford, I think it was on a subframe though, not on the 3 pt. You get too much on that 3 pt & pick it too high, you'll be bird watching.
