Well I got the tractor here yesterday. To say the least it was sort of TOUGH to get it started and drive it off the trailer in the snow! I mean I had to pick the coldest day of the year to Get this thang here. Any ways we had to push it down hill into the drive way, not a big hill though more like a small slope. In the yard I charged one of the batteries more with the car and it then cranked up after about 15 seconds of cranking and plooms of smoke. Then I drove it for a minute not enough to get it warm. Here is my first question I am just barly too tall to fit in the grage. The smoke stack is too tall. Could I cut this 1.5 foot pipe that is after the muffler without messing something up?? It seems totally logical that I could shorten this by a foot or more and stick another exsuast flap back on. Secondly and this is a big one.... I went on ahead and took the radiator out, (wasn't too tough to do). I sent it to a radiaor shop and hope to here back from them today..I called the sales guy to ask him what else I could expect being that I already paid him the money, he does not have to hide anything now! He said that the hydrolic pump was rebuilt and the Transmision had 6th gear replaced and 8th gear replaced!!!! Now this transmision work was NEW to me. My thinking is that this could be a good thing. The Sales man preceeded to say it was slipping out of 6th gear and 8th gear. So, they had the syncronisers replaced!! In one instance I think "well at least a mechanic went through the tranny and it should be solid!!"or should it be? What sort of things would this indicate to you?? Would you be worried about anything else? Would it have been that tough to just overhaul the whole transmision? What do yall think about this?? What does it say about the whole condition of the tractor? What ever it is,IT IS WHAT IT IS now. I bought it, just would like to here some more other opinions on what else to expect...
