Many years ago TSC opened a store near us. They closed it in just a couple years because the could not compete with a local family owned store that always had better prices and the things that you wanted. After the owners died the local store was sold to Bomgaars. Now we have a new TSC again. If you go to TSC, Bomgaars, and then Menards to check prices you will buy the item at Menards. Of course Menards does not carry alot of the items the farms stores do. For everything else you can get a better deal at the local CaseIH dealer or Ace Hardware. If you are looking for log chains or load binders go to a dealer that sells new semi trailers. You will never buy another chain at TSC or Bomgaars again. It seems the farm stores must get a lot of their business from people who don't shop around or don't know where else to find what they want.

Well we have a TSC about 20 miles away, but we also got last year a Family Farm and Home store, NEW. Looks like the quality stores just re-organized. Its great to get some competition but sometimes im after a part and go through both of them and still come home empty handed. I was after a Farmall A muffler 2 days ago. The same one fits A,B, and C Farmalls. I bought one a month ago and must have been the last one, never replaced it on the shelf. Came home muffler less.

I really like TSC. Our other choice is to have no TSC store so I really appreciate it. I buy their paint,oils and lube, tarps, straps, bolts by the pound, just bought a dewalt electric impact, welding supplies, just got a 3 point king cutter disc, new set of coveralls at 30% off. Got some valvoline 5w30 for $1.10 a quart on sale and some Chevron 10w30 for $1.25 on sale. Just got a magnetic block heater, buy tractor oil filters there, all my 4 1/2 inch grinding disks for the milwaukee disk grinder, I buy their bulk chain and ends and make my own custom chains, pipe fittings, special fastners and sprayer fittings and hose. Sump pump hose, lawn tractor batteries, chore gloves in the ten pack, 25 gallon lawn sprayer (cart was really cheap) rest of sprayer pretty good. I really have very few complaints about tsc. I just special ordered a couple of lights for one of the tractors from them and it went well. I like the layout of the store. Even if I am not buying, I like to shop there.

Well I am from the city all the way. When the Tracto Supply store opened up 30 miles away I was EXCITED.
But since ihave had may 4020 amd been taring it apart and working on it. Here's what I have found about Tractor Supply store.

1) 4020 radiator:
Special order and it's $120.00 more expensive..
2) Lubricants and coolent...
Don't carry John Deer Cool gurd, don't carry cummins 4-DCA. Could not find greese guns any where.
3) Need hardware for the bush hog I have. they are very limitted.
4) Need grade 8 nuts and bolts for the loader I have...with the fine pitched machine threads...NONE!!!

yeah the seem to have a ton Animal stuff and feed and all, but so does brown lees

Snice I have had my 4020..I have learned what REAL tractor parts are!!! Tractor supply just don't have it!!

There was a Tractor Supply in Plainview years ago that stocked a good supply of of tractor parts and hardware or could order what you needed,but for some reason they closed . Also had one in Lubbock,a large store that later closed. The Gebo farm stores started in Plainview and spread from there. They still have a good supply of farm related items at good prices. Was hopeing TS would also stock these also.O well can,t have everything.

I live in north central KY and I think that TSC is very handy. No not for repair parts for tractors, but they do have a good supply of nuts and bolts, good selection of tools, welding supplies, battery chargers, jacks, etc.. they had the sprayer tip parts I needed when I was having trouble finding them. Oil and lubricants and alot of stuff, dog, cat, goat feeds etc....

Obviously everybody has an opinion and everybody is correct in how they see it. No store could possibly have everything, but it just might be useful to you for somethings.

I live about a 1 1/2 miles from the TSC in Weatherford, TX. I buy a lot of stuff there, but not much tractor stuff. They have a larger space for dog food than they do to actual tractor and implement parts. Don't get me started on the clothes. More a wanabe farm store now. Years ago you could actually buy tractor repair parts there.

The farm stores here in NW Iowa are leaning more toward the urban shopper too. In fact they are leaning so far to the urban side that what little they do have in farm parts is about to slide out the back door! If I want to find a U joint cross or a metal band saw blade, I'm out of luck. But if I want western clothing, horse supplies, buggy whips, garden rakes, and all that kind of stuff, then I've gone to the right place. Jim

Our nearist TS is about 45 Miles away two about same distance different directions . But their prices aren't as good as some of the local dealers priced box blade local dealer was $60 cheaper .

my sister works for em', and I'll tell you, it's not the best store out there, like others said LOTS of horse stuff, but if ya' need fencing stuff, a quick bad of feed or some bolts, then they are down right handy to have around. I shop there a lot becouse my sisters 15% off makes it the cheapest place to shop.. just my .02 worth

If you don't own horses or need lawn and garden stuff it isn't very useful (I agree with Hard Knocks tractor shouldn't be in the name). Whenever I need parts the 45 minute drives to dealers are always worth the time rather than the 20 minute drive to TSC. They either don't stock what I need and I have to order it and wait a week or they don't have enough of them. They sold my boss a broken space heater and he went a round with TSC then called the company who said TSC knowingly sold them that way and they would send a kit to fix it.

Howdy Gary,

Gebo's has about the same inventory, quality, and price as TSC and (from what I've seen) seems to be more geared to the farmers and ranchers rather than the horsse people and weekend farmers. I've shopped at both stores and in different places. There's a TSC Store here in Abilene on Southwest Drive. If you need something, let me know and when I am headed to Clovis to see the wife I will drop it off for you.

You will find the store useful. Sells REd Brand wire, posts, hydrolic lines, bearings, etc. We have one in Weatherford. There is also one in Mineral Wells, one in Decatur, etc. Tlm

They're good to get the 5% price match garantee on, because you can ussaully find it someplace cheaper. Trouble comes when it;'s the exact same stuff we buy at Fleet Farm (teat dip, udder wash, soap, lime, twine, etc...) it's the same exact thing, made by the same exact company because it says so on the corner of the label on the back, but it's a different "brand" on them because one sells Milkhouse Brand and the other sells something like Dairy Land Brand.

But for hyd. cylinders and tractor seats, I bet I saved about $50 on the price match policy.

I have used their 5% price match too. Last spring I put in a bunch of fence and saved about a $100 by using Fleet Farms prices. I saved about 60 miles of driving this way. Overall I would say TSC is pretty useless compared to Fleet Farm, especially the new one in Appleton. They are handy for nuts and bolts and stuff, nice and close to home.

You got that right!! I'm taking classes at FVTC right now so if I need something, I just go down the road and get what I need. If it costs too much, I take they're price to TSC and make them beat it.

TSC is only nice because it's they're open a few hours later than the local ACE (also a rip-off on most things) when I need bolts. they're also about 4-5 miles away vs. 10-15 for Fleet Farm. Fleet Farm is still king though...

I think you'll be disappointed somewhat once it's there Gary. It's cheaper "made" stuff like the big home supplies and wally worlds carry already. Otherwise Gebos and TISCO dealers sell pretty much the same thing. Ray Lee JD and other implement dealers and shops in your town are already TISCO or A&I dealers just ask them. Central tractor tried similar stores in Amarillo and Dumas 10 years ago and they didn't stay and closed. Largest and closest stocking store they have now is in Weatherford TX and they sent me a catalog and didn't have a thing I couldn't already buy local for same price or less when you figure freight or driving costs. Most here won't drive to that store 75 miles away when can buy same thing local closer.

Theyre an Ok store, here in MI they bought out Quality Farm and Fleet which increased their store numbers. Back years ago, they had more tractor and implement based stuff, now it seems less of that is stocked, more and more horsey type stuff and horsey clothing. If you need an item, they usually have it though. Think youre gonna be finding more and more cheap Chinese stuff anyplace you go unless we get some massive regulations on importing.

Yea you are absolutely right, Quality Fsrm and Fleet was so much more of a farm supply store. I grew up just a dozen miles from the original Farm and Fleet in North Muskegon,MI. In fact in my high school days, the local FFA chapter was involved in a lot of corporate management scenarios for Quality. The last couple years in business, Quality bought out Central tractor, which if anyone had the priviledge to see a CT store, that was a tractor supply store for sure. It was really sad to see when the 2 Hill brothers retired from Quality F and F management and the board made some bad expansion plans. It really hurt the economy in the Muskegon area. I agree TSC is very limited, even in the hardware dept. I have went to a few stores down in Nortern Indiana area and they don't carry any dairy supplies, while local Michigan stores do some. I emailed TSC corp and asked some questions and was basically told that TSC only carried 10% of the stock that Quality had available. Guess even a good farm supply store has gone the Walmart way. If it wasn't for the 2 feedmills, Deere dealer a mile away and TSC, farming would be a lot more challenging.

Tractor Supply is better than nothing. Lately they seem to have more and more Chinese junk. They bought out Quality Farm and Fleet here in Pa. Farm and Fleet had a much better selection of goods. Less Chinese stuff. Prices were comparable.

Gary, You will find that both stores have their strengths and weak points. Though Gebos will be tough to beat 90% of the time, TSC will be a stopping place for you just like Gebos is!.
They are out on 70, The Olton Highway in the old Wal-Mart Bld. Enjoy!

Lots of the stuff at TS is Chinese.. About 4 years ago, I went there and bought some ratchet binders and grade 70 chain. Happy to see that they were US made. A year or so later. I noticed that they were stocking these cheap Chinese binders that are orange.. And they were the same price as the US ones had sold for!!!

They are real good at selling chinese junk and putting other farm stores out of buisness. Gebo's is a lot better. Made the mistake of buying a 3pt post hole digger there...junk. The only time I grace the doors is if I have to have something on sunday and nobody else is open.

Live within 40 miles of 3 TSC stores, one Gebo's, and an Attwoods farm supply(like TSC). Out of the named stores, I would pick Gebo's for farming supplies, TSC for horse and feeds, and Attwoods for equipment such as mowers,etc. You just have to watch the prices and the quality. Noticed a lot of China stuff in TSC lately. But still my pick is Gebos. Just my 2 pennys worth..
