Hi Gang;
Since getting into the YT Forum, I have to think sometimes what a item is because of our language differences. Here are few:-
Muffler = English silencer or exhaust
Hood = " bonnet
Fender = " mudguard
Trunk = " boot
Are there any words that I use that you guys need translating?
Cheers David

If 'schedule' is pronounced SHED-YULE, is 'school' pronounced SHULE? I sometimes wonder of English is really a language or a series of inexplicable contradictions. I grew up in the Southern US, where one could hear "Ya'lls n's" (YAL-ZUNZ) being used to refer to multiple people. Or 'iiight for "all right".

Watch antique road show from Wales on TV last evening. Interesting items. Talked about a line of castles built for the knights to keep the welsh out of England?

A sleeper usually refers to a railroad tie.

Think it was Winston Churchill who said we were two nations divided by a common language....!

And while you are at it how about spelling....Plow.....Plough, Tire...Tyre...Color...Colour..or different names for the same thing try Semi-Trailer would be an Articulated Lorry, all very confusing.

I have worked with a couple of aussies for awhile now and I'm finally becoming a little less confused with their terminology. Do the people of Wales share any of their words? They call a light bulb a "globe" and the lense on the light a "dome." An open end wrench is a "spanner." A young male bovine is a "bullock" and a cow is a "beast." Jim

Yes, as a matter of fact could you explain what the heck warm weather means? It is getting to be just about enough cold for us here in the midwest. However I'm guessing that come July we will all be complaining about the hot weather again.

Sorry, I have been married (just a figure of speech)to a farmer that has three waters that are freezing up, and he seems to think that my hands do not get as cold as his. The fact of the matter is if he had installed them correctly in the first place they probably would not need the attention righ now when it is 12 below and the cattle need water.

My ex-wife's mom was from England, and for fourteen years I never could figure if she was ticked off or trying to be funny. Only good clue was when she started throwing things, then I had the brains to figure she was mad, just wish I had the sence to shut up though. Yea I'm the type that could never walk away from a bees nest with a stick in my hand. Why not try it?

Thanks for the information, I will try to remember.
