OK I've installed a new 16.9 X 24 Goodyear turf tire and tube. Now I want to install plain water in the tube. I have access to a hose to valve stem adapter. What is proper way to install water and inflate air.I want maximum wheel weight to offset weight from front boom load. Other tire presently has water. Old tire had water.

There is a man here who puts water in his tires in the spring and drains it out in the fall. Just one of his chores. And yes put the stem at the top and fill the tire up to just below it. Something has to give and air is the best.

Once the water freezes, I hope the tractor isn't to rough to drive. I bought a tractor from a warm state that had water in the tires. got it home winter came and froze water took two weeks two get it thawed out.

Jack up the tire with stem on the top and let water run till it stops. Then you will have to realese the pressure then more water and release pressure again until it is full then it will have whatever pressure the water had when filling and you can get the tire almost completely full.

Is it best to leave some room in the tube for air?

You wont get all the air out anyway and when done filling you will be checking for pressure but the pressure will be close to whatever water pressure you have. Now you can just keep filling and bleeding till it just wont take any more water but there will still be a little room for air. You probably dont want too much pressure anyway so it rides fairly smooth. But you know the tire will take 20lbs easy. good luck

I have run plain old water in my tractor tires for the past 15 years. Never had a problem of any kind. Of course I live about 50 miles south of Fort Worth, Texas. Sure wouldn't do this if I lived where it got extremely cold.
