Hey everyone,

Thanks for all of the good ideas. Now I have another question. On the Electrolysis for rust removal, can you use a automatic charger? I think that this is something that would work and be interesting too.

Thanks for the help.

Carson

Try checking on the tool talk forum,There has been a number of post concerning electrolysis lately. How to connect charger, and use soda ash, another word for washing soda, not baking soda.

Carson, Just last week on Spike TV On the Show "Trucks" they visited about this! They said to do it this way. The object they used eas an old lower A-Frame from a GM 2x4 pickup. Use a large container to hold the part. Mix water and they said Washing Soda...I guess cause it comes in a large box but is the same as regular baking soda. I think the rate was pretty high 2 to 4 oz of soda to gal. Immerse the part in the H2O/soda solution. They used a plastic container I guess for it is safer when useing electricity.. Hook the - lead to the part then use a clean steel rod oe bar hook the + lead to it set the slow charger to 3 amps. and walk away from it for a day or so.
Anyway, you can go to powerblocktv.com and visit the trucks porition for more details. Good Luck.
Later,
John A.

hey carson...sounds like maybe you decided to try the electrolosis route huh? if you get yours set up before i do, let me know how it worked out for you. i'm waiting for warmer weather here in tenn.

are your pistons still stuck? have you taken the rods loose from the crankshaft yet? if you have, maybe you should try tapping on the pistons with a hardwood block and hammer every once in a while to see if your pb blaster is loosening things up...maybe you can get them to start breaking loose. if you do take the rods off the crank, make sure you label every part so you can put then back in exactly the same way and place they came off. good luck

take care,
-mike

Yes, Carson. I have and do still use an auto charger. Quite good actually as the amps used are the amps required for the task. Works away quietly and does a good job. Presumably you are talking about rust removal from parts using 12volts and a water/soda solution?

God Bless,
Rex
