J...if that IS the right serial #, you have a 1940 9N tractor. as far as manuals go, if you'll look in the left hand margin of this web page, at the very top of the margin you'll see the "marketplace". click on "tractor manuals", log in your tractor type, and you'll find all the manuals you need. if i was you i would go ahead and order all three (if they're offered for your tractor) owners/operators, service, and parts manuals. you'll find they all come in handy sooner or later. if they still have the same offer going on, by ordering two or more manuals, they'll send you a free serial number guide also. hope this helps...

J....as to the value of your tractor, it so much depends on where you are and what the market for your kind of tractor is in your area that i'd be afraid to say. you might want to look in the classified section of this website and see what other 9N's are being asked for. around here there are so many old fords that it might bring the value down a bit, but i've seen them go at auctions for anywhere from +/- a thousand to about three thousand, depending on who's bidding and the condition they're in. but i wouldn't go by that...look for other sources like Ebay. one other thing...have you been over to the ford "N" forum on this website? you'll run into lots of N people there. i'm a fergie guy myself, related but not the same tractor. click on "show all forums" and scroll down til you come across the ford N forum. enjoy your 9N J., and keep us informed about your progress.
