well, the hydraulic pump just went out to the rebuilder, rear screen was packed with gook, grass clippings and metal chips. so now i gotta flush out the rear housing. thinkin about using some kerosene, pour thru the filler, let it drain out the bottom, have to blow all the lines out too. was a little nervous workin on a green one, but sat down and had a long talk with this tractor, i think it she understands. dont know how i'm gonna tell all my red ones i was messin around with a deere. think they'll understand????

I'd been meaning to ask, and maybe you already covered this, but shouldn't that tractor be yellow? I thought a 301A was an industrial model. I can even see yellow underneath the green paint in your pictures. Just thought I'd ask. By the way, not starting another discussion about proper color, just curious is all. Thanks

yup, it was origionlly yellow.my buddies dad seemed to always carry a paint can and a brush.when they bought this one at an auction for 300.00, it got brushed green. i'm thinking of sanding down the sheet metal and re-shooting it green to get all the brush marks and runs out of it. i think sh'ell be happier with a new dress!!!1

hey glen, that wouldn't happen to be an international 284 or 134 would it? They're JUNK!

By the way, yeah I know what you mean about the fuel tank meing bashed in first. I have a 2155 that needs straightening in the front, it's all pushed back an inch. by the way, what you do is drive like a sensible person so you DON'T run into stuff.

i'm not sure what the model number is, its about 20 hp or so, i know he had the head machined cause it warped, and he does have problems getting parts for it. it has the battery and air cleaner in front of the radiator, and it overheats with the hood closed when its working hard. i'm thinking about moving that stuff out of there so it gets better air flow, maybe add an aux electric fan in front of the radiator.

After seeing your plugged screen, I decided to check the screen on my 401b, just about the same tractor as yours, except it has one more piston going up and down. I pulled my screen and it was fairly clean, except for a small O ring. I wonder where that came from? I already had my oil drained so it was a fairly easy check. Hardest part was breaking the big nut loose. Someone really put it in tight. Stan

i seen more then one of thoes screen pluged be to the point no oil could flow to transmission pump whitch in trun pumps oil to main pump most of the time you can clean the screen flush rear housing with diesel cheaper then kerosene, and then reinstall and be no problem with main pump. thoes main hy pumps just dont give all that much problem.

this one has been chatteering for a while according to the owner, i priced a new pump from deere, about 1250.00, a reman from the dealer is 950.00 or so, we have a hydraulic shop down the road, he is gonna crack it open, clean it up and see if it needs anything

i understand having it check and rebuild most of the time the chatter is the stroke control valve that caues the chatter whitch in trune is usealy a small pices of junk not letting it seat. valve i think last one i bought fron jd was around 40 dollars. the seal kit should run around 80 dollars

The red tractors are all laughing, seeing as it is the green one that needs work.

Now, is that the ind. version of the 1020 or the 2020. Had a 2020 gas that liked fuel. Currently have a 1020 diesel. Good little tractors.

i was really suprised that the fuel tank, air cleaner asem and a hydraulic tank are all right behind the front grille panel. jeez you crash into something , the first thing you hit is the fuel tank. after this one is done, my buddy is bringing over a little international with a jap diesel that keep overheating, but doesnt over heat with the hood off. then his 656 needs work too. looks like im gonna be busy for a while.
