Howard -- It *was* a whale of a collection; there was a 2-page ad in the Jan./Feb. edition of "Belt Pulley" magazine which showed a handful of the nearly 3,000 items that were destined to go under the hammer. The auction bill claimed "nearly 1,000 tractors" and "thousands of small collectibles," all selling -- at no reserve -- to the highest bidder, regardless of price. Also referenced was "Perhaps the largest Massey-Harris collection," tractor engines, large model train collection, model tractor collection, hit & miss engines, 17 antique cars (including a 1917 Oldsmobile touring V-8), antique toys, antique furniture and large pedal cars. Case 75 HP Lots of neat toys to drool over. Of note, buyer's premium was only 5%; you don't see that very often. All in all, it would have been a great auction to go to with Bill Gate's checkbook. Unfortunately, the only checkbook I have is my own, and the U.S. Gov't and the Infernal Revenue Service have a claim on a large chunk of what's in it, so I'll just have to be content with the rusty ol' iron I already have. Now that feller who hit the Mega-millions jackpot and just cashed his first check for $584,000 -- that's another story...
