Hi, I hope some one can tell me what is wrong. I replaced the starter solenoid on my AC 7040. When I press the starter button the starter continues to turn (recieve power) after I let the button go. I had to race around and disconnect the battery to get it to stop. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thank you

Next time you replace the solenoid, polish the solenoid piston with some fine sandpaper and put a thin coat of grease on the outside of the piston. This will help keep it from sticking.

The contacts on the new solenoid probaboy burned together for some reason. If it happens again tap the solenoid. Stan

My Freightliner truck does the same thing. Delco-Remy starter replaced in Jan. this year with new solenoid.. Scared the bejabbers out of me. Couldn't get to the battery & starter finally ran down. Engine will start & at some point the starter quits & backs out. Anyway I took it off & to starter shop & they said probably solenoid, maybe ignition switch. Starter worked ok on the stand but I had'em put a new solenoid on anyway. Haven't had chance to put it on yet. They said low voltage could cause this but my batteries are up.
