Fuel economy

Has anyone here found any additives to their gas that increased their fuel economy?
I was thinking of Lucas fuel treatment in particular. It has something called polyisobutylene in it which I've read on sources other than Lucas' own site can increase economy.
It does the opposite of ethanol, it adds heat energy to the gas. Apparently.
And how about oil? Anyone found an oil that gives their machines better economy? Something a little slicker than average?
Thanks!

A 100 mile check will give the same results.I did a check on my f150 5.4 v8 4wd. Kept it 45 to 50 mph for 50 miles then 55mph for 50 miles on the interstate.About 5 miles was city driving.Got 19.3 mpg.Auto transmission shifts into overdrive at 45 mph.A friend has a 94 ranger 4cyl.He complains about poor gas milage.Took him to the garage to pick up his truck.I had to run 65 mph to keep up with him on the way home.Amazed to see the leadfoots on the road with gas at 2.90 per gallon.

I am seeking TRUE gas mileage. When a person checks mileage with one tank or 100 miles--they instinctivly drive to get good mileage. They want to. My purpose is to drive the vehicle, normally, city and highway for 1000 miles. I know I can drive responsibly and get much better mileage but what good is it. As someone stated earlier your best mileage increase is not in what gasoline or additive you use but how you drive.

Re: place too buy used turbos? in reply to Tim Shultz, 03-19-2007 18:38:55
What do you want the turbo for, and how much boost do you want? Answer that first. With those questions answered, you can then head to the junkyard of your choice and look. Otherwise, flip through the yellow pages for an injection and turbo shop..... but that won't be cheap.

I have a 706 Farmall gas that I use for heavy tillage. It gets lousey fuel economy so I started using Shaffer fuel additive and it still gets lousey fuel economy. But it sure does keep carb and inside of engine clean for whatever thats worth.

Pump your tires up to the Max manufacturer's recommended PSI. Check tires weekly. Install a new air filter. Drive exactly the speed limit. Have a tune up if you are over two years on the last, depends on your mileage, install new oxygen sensors when you have your tune up. Tires, air filter and speed limit will increase your mileage.

Depending on age and condition of your engine, I have found that Mobil one (probably any synthetic) increases gas mileage. HTH God Bless.

nothing for fuel economy... think about it... even if it DID give more fuel economy, you will have spent all the money SAVED on the ADDITIVE!

I can't speak on the economy thing, but I will give a plug to Lucas. I bought a White 2-135 in September some time back. It was fine that fall, but in the spring when I started chisel plowing, oil ran out of the rear main in a stream. I put one bottle of Lucas additive in it and the result was,I'm not going to say immediate, but by the end of the day, huge improvement,3-4 days, almost complete.
