How many yards of dirt/gravel does a typical dump truck that is under the CDL requirement(less than 26000 lbs GVW) hold?

Thanks

I have an International S-1600 single axle dump with a 9 ft steel box. Empty the truck weights 10,400 lbs. So 26,000 - 10,400 = 15,600 lbs. Wet gravel at 3000 lbs / yd = 5 yds. as said if you can see the dirt humped up you are probably overloaded.

Under that magic number of 26,000 you figure the truck comes in at about 6000-7000lbs which leaves you around 20,000 for sand/gravel. Sand/gravel per yard is around 3000 give or take some depending on how wet it is etc. My 1 ton ford with dump bed I can haul around 2-2.5 yards on it and then its to the point that its at its max. Tamden trucks around in the CDL range and well over the 26,000;lbs Shoot my tandem axle trucks weights around 17,000 empty and loaded would be up around 35,000-40,000 if not more been to many years since I drove for a liveing

I had an old F350 one ton stake bed dump truck.
Weighed 6500 pounds empty. Heaviest I ever went across the scales was 13500 pounds carrying gravel. Tare weight was 3.5 tons of gravel.

Or I could carry 3 cubic yards of top soil no problem. Mite could have carried 4 cubic yards.

Bed of the truck was 9 feet long and 7 feet wide. I had 2 sets of sideboards for it. 2 feet tall and 4 feet tall. Which ones I used depended on what I was carrying.

I miss my dump truck. Wish I had never sold it.

It depends on the material and the truck weights.

Usually a 6 yard dump with two axels is about as much as they allow.

The material can't be viewed in the bed from the street. If you have the box pretty full and humped up, you're probably overweight.

Gravels and sands are quite heavy.

Our single axel 5-7yd dumps are way over 26,000# loaded. I though the only ones under the limit were the 3yd on the 350 or equivelent series trucks.
