IH 756.

I am having a problem with the range transmission lever. I find it some times hard to move into position.
Some days the rverse shift fitting will not line up with the lever & the neutral lock plate gets stuck. I usually push it back to position to get me going. Obviously this is not what i want to keep doing. Has this happened to any one else. Can some one please shed some light onto this. I would be appreciative if some can tell me how to fix it.

Due to age and ware they get a bit woren along with clutch and dump valve adjustment makes them get hard to shift . This can all be fixed with out tomuch of a hassel and not a bunch of money. Remove the cover on the shifter and see how much slop you have and where and what is woren and rebush and add some machine washer also check out the as i call them CUBCADET tierod ends for ware and replace and move on down the linkage and look for any ware in the HEADED PINS and replace the pins with OEM pins.when ya have all of that done go to the I H board and look thru archives for my Clutch and trans brake and dump vavle adjusment as it is fool proof and compansates for ware that the book never allowed for . I have fixed many of the shifters on 06-66 tractors for not a bunch of money .
