Okay,

Just doing some "finishing touches" on my old tractor and since you guys bailed me out on the combination rear light problem, maybe you can help me "think" on this one.

Oh and by the way, nobody had that rear seal beam in stock, so went to the parts house and bought a little roll of that "tail light repair tape". Put on two layers and it worked like a charm.

Anyway, back to this deal. :>(

I've got to tie down this mat around the dash area. Tried using some 1" wide black tape and that didn't work; at low temps it came unstuck. :>(

Do they make a black colored duck tape? Or, any other ideas? Just need to "stick 'er down" so it looks right.

3-M spray adheesive or any name brand spray adhesive. I glued the foam cab upolstery in with some I got at Manards. That was 7 years ago and none has let lose yet. Also you will want to cover that foam edge with something so it looks nice. If you can make duct tape work than use any color and paint it black. yes gray duct tape is paintable.

Duct tape will not hold up..... Try "Gorilla Glue"..... Got mine a "Lowes lumber"

They make a black adhesive for putting trim and molding back on cars and trucks. As long as you don't want to pull it back off right away,anything that will hold something to the outside of a car,that shouldn't go anywhere for sure. I got it at the Car Quest store after I painted my pickup.

Will you never need to take the mat off?? If so I would velcro it down. Go to a sewing shop or the sewing section at Wal Mart :) and buy some velcro. Them get some good glue. Glue the velcro to both sides...and done. Just a idea..

If you are really fussy (I know you are) I'd get some plastic edging and use screws. make it look professional.

From the factory, they have that front insulation under the gauges with a formed edge that goes back and over the mat. The mat tucks under the front piece.

Don't think a guy and get that front face piece anymore; wouldn't want it anyway as I want to keep the "red look". :>)

Yeah, she's awfully close and lookin' pretty darned good.

3M does make some strong double coated tape, seem to work well when the bonding surface is cleaned well, might want to make sure the adhesive is compatible with the foam.

The local true value has GORILLA TAPE which is black duct(duck) tape. Looked like tough stuff. Price was kinda high so I haven't bought any. They probably have the same stuff in Chadron. If not you could take a road trip and stop for a visit next week.

Dont spend your money on that! I bought some of that $7.00 per roll garbage ...when it got cold out it came undone. i used it on a corner of one of the greenhouses, a seem was coming undone. Usually regular duct tape works great for repairs on them. DTURKE

G'mornin Allan, would carpet tape work beings it's sticky on both sides, lots of stuff I use 3M glue in the spray can.

the tape Iget is Gorilla brand duct tape and usually is black. Seem it would be kindas cheap lookin for ya thou. I use a glue to put foam seals in grain vac machines that man it sticks,you want get it right first time, name brand forget off top of my head. Can get info if want. Also I use a velcro appolstory stuff on Kinze planters that I am sure would work and you could remove foam if need to later.

Yes there is Black Duct Tape, Brown, Green, I think white, and of course Grey.

I have used Black on the cushion's of Black tractor seat's when they get a small tear from having then tiped up against the steering wheel, on the D-19 with the black and white seat. Also I have a Black bucket from a Skid loader on the WD-45 which has a small tear in the edge where the black fixes it so it is not hardly noticable.

Well there's 3-M black weatherstrip cement, also known as "Gorilla snot". How about a 1/2 inch wide strip of .040 aluminum an some pop rivits? Should form up nice an be permanent.

I know I have seen colored duct tape before - maybe at Lowe's or Home Depot I'm sure they have black...

How about this idea though: Why not make some nice little brackets that you attach with the bolts that hold the tin on and have an upholstery shop make up some snaps - then the cover can just snap right onto the dash and stay put. It would work great and look more professional than duct tape...

Allan, I think you can get duct tape in just about any color you want. This link shows the black variety, which would probably button things up pretty well.

You can get duck tape in black,green,red,brown yellow,gray or blue,but I have not seen a blue duck.
