i had another question about the f150 300ci 6 with the 4 spd tranny. how is the fuel economy. and as for the loud pipes, the truck will mostly be used off the road in fields and only around town driving around. i have an atv and man its probably the loudest one you'll ever hear. but i only open up the throttle on my own land away from civillization. i have respect for other people unlike some others that give us atv riders a bad name. thanks for all your help

My '94 F150 consumed 10,000 gallons for the first 175,000 miles, so that averages 17.5 MPG with the manual 5 speed box. It's up to 209,000 now but it still gets about 17.

With my 88 F150 2wd 6 cyl. 5 sp, I get anywhere from 14-19/20. Depends on where/when I'm driving, and if i'm heavy on the foot or not. I have a 5 sp. Mazda tranny, but don't let it fool you because it's been a farm truck since dad bought it in 92, and we've pulled 8 tons of hay plus a couple times with it. Original clutch, about 195,000 miles on it. I love that thing....

Noisy engine sounds good to you now, later on you won't hear it anyway because you will have ruined your hearing early in the game of life.

I have had several 300s and gas milage varied considerably. I bought a 85 Bronco new with 300 and 4speed overdrive it got 10 MPG. I got a 85 F 150 from my brother 300 bull dog tranny it got 21 MPG with a carb. I have a 77 f100 and it gets around 9 MPG with a three speed manual tranny. My dad has a 86 F 150 300 auto tranny and it gets 12 MPG. This is road mileage off road will be terrible on fuel. They are great engines with lots of power. I wish I had my brothers old truck back.

Good to know what to expect. I am planning on taking a 300 with an auto trans out of a van and put it in a Wagner Mobile Scoop. It is a 3 wheel loader made on the west coast. I have only seen 3 and I have 2 of them.

Now you know where there are two more of these loaders. I have one running and one for parts. The running one is in tractor photos and can be seen by doing a search for Scoopmobile.

Hi Paul, it has been a long time. I remember you having 2 Scoops and I was going to send you a picture of the one that I use. I post a picture of the one that is running in tractor photos.

As a rule 300-6's aren't that good on gas carbureted..Injected they're some better..Don't give yourself a headache...Put a cheapo muffler on it..Unless you have a "Road Warrier "complex....
