My rear tires are loaded with calsium(sp) and the stems are leaking. Is there special valve stems for calcium or can I just change the guts. I don't have tubes, and can I change them, without loosing too much fluid. My first time with loaded tires on my Kubota. Thanks, NorminN.B.

How bad do you need the wt.? Do you farm full-time with it or just maintain an acreage? Personally, my JD 4020 came with CaCl H20 in the wheels, but an Ag mechanic friend advised me to remove it, as it would rust the rims over time. Obviously, I don't farm full-time, but mainly bush-hog 10 acres, and move dirt, but I haven't noticed the difference in performance or traction, so far. Just my .02 worth.

Good Luck, Matt

i like to put silicone grease on the threads and o-ring before you screw them in. seems to keep a good seal and easier to get the stem back out.

If you have calcium chloride and no tubes your rims will be rusted out in a short time.

Tractor supply has a two-pack of cores for about 4 bucks. I usually roll tractor til valve stem is at top, in 12 o'clock position and throw cribbing & a jack under the axle; lift a little bit and you get minimal loss of liquid-actually very little air loss even if you have the new core ready to screw in as soon as old one is removed.

Nothing special about them, and you can get just the valve stems. There are several places you can get them, but a tire shop that does ag tires is for sure your best bet. To replace them, drive the tractor until the stem is on the top of the rim, and have the new one ready.

Grab onto the old one with a pliers and move quick. You shouldn't loose much if any fluid, but no matter what you'll still get some spray on the rim. Rinse that off right away.
