Finally got some time to post a little

Glad to finally get some time to nose around the ol" sight again. Things have been busier than a one-armed paper hanger around here. The little early burst of spring sent all our customers at the store into a tizzy. Had farmers and yard owners alike lined up at the counter for at least two solid weeks. Found out that we ended up setting a record last month for parts sales. Did well over 100,000 and that"s good for a small dealer in S. OH. Thanks to any of you who patronize our store. On the farm we finally started moving hay after dropping the prices down to 2.00 and 3.00 for 1st and 2nd cutting alfalfa. Add to that the fact that all three of my tractors are broke and you can see why things have been so crazy. I had high hopes of doing regular service on all the tractors and get the disk in for maintenance and maybe try and fix up and paint the baler and haybine this winter but that sure ain"t happening. I did some work on my R back in January replacing the crankshaft seal on the pulley side. Goofed apparently because now it has a vibration in the motor that"ll shake the hood loose. So, that"ll be comin back in the shop. First I have to finish fixin up that wonderful 720 that I bought last December. Thing was supposed to be "restored". I"ll admit I didn"t do a thorough inspection but the issues I"m havin now weren"t issues when I looked at it. Pony clutch was slipping and wouldn"t turn the big motor over. Got it in the shop and took the motor off. Clutch needed adjustment but had a new disc in it. Noticed the compression was low so checked rings and they were shot. Re-ringed the motor and put clutch back together. Yesterday dad and I put it in and tried it. Well, it still won"t turn the big motor. Thankfully, after getting pretty down about the mystery I noticed a parts diagram of the pony tranny and saw that it has an overrunning clutch in the transmission. My best guess is that the disc in it is wore out. Of course, that means now I have to pull the motor out again. Anybody else had that issue with a 720 pony? One positive about all this is that I"m sure learning about these old girls ha ha. Almost forgot that my rake and elevator tractor (farmall A) seems to be in need of a governor rebuild too. So much for workin on my neighbor"s C restoration. It won"t be too long till first cutting and I have one tractor that works. Anybody got any room for some mechanical viruses?
