I have a tractor with liquid weighted rear wheels and the tire needs air but the valve stem wont allow the air in. Is there anything I can do without taking the tire off.
Thanks,
Kyle

Are you guys talking about the valve core or valve stem. The stem is attached to the tube isn't it or if tubeless it has to be replaced from inside the rim. The core how ever can be replaced from outside. On rear tires they have two cores a large one for quick filling of liquid and small one that is used as a reducer and it screwed onto the larger stem.

Us 'city' folks have done exactly what the others said, and it works! The tire store even gave us the stem-saying they were sure it would not work, but they were wrong! Greg

You shouldn't have any problems getting just a replacement valve stem for a rear tire. Go to any shop that services rear tractor tires and they should even be able to give you a good used one for free.

Once you have a new stem, drive the tractor until the stem is at the top of the tire, then remove the old one with a pliers and screw in the new one. You could probably get the old one freed up, but chances are it won't seal tight and will need replacement anyway. I've replaced several valve stems this way and really didn't loose any fluid other than a slight mist. Be sure to wear safety glasses because that stuff is nasty if you get it in your eyes. It really tastes like crap too....

Take the weight off the tire with a jack. Block the other wheels so it wont move on you. This will help to minimize the fluid loss when changing the stem.

So there two parts? And I"m only removing the inner part? Not the bigger part that screws up to the rim?
Thanks Kyle

Thats right the inner part screws out. Lots of valve stem caps have the tool to take the inner bit out too. Probably can buy a valve stem tool at the autoparts store for cheap. Definately worth having.

Yes, and you might as well buy a box of a dozen of those little tools. I believe they are the most easily misplaced tool known to man.
