People bash IT manuals, BUT they were never intended for Joe Farmer mechanics. What they were intended for was so Brand "X" dealerships TRAINED mechanics would be able to work on Brand "Y" equipment, either trade in's or good customers with more than one brand of equipment. They ARE just enough information to get an ameteur mechanic in trouble.

No I don't, but I have worked at dealersips for more that 20 years and have witnessed our techs having to un-fix a lot of stuff repaired by people who work on their own equipment but shouldn't.

IT manuals make a good wedge to hold doors open. They also provide a soft surface to prevent marking soft metal or paint when used as cushion over the vice jaws.

The "best" manual is actually 3 manuals, all OEM. Get the Operator Manual for fluids, maintenance, some troubleshooting, etc. Get the Repair Manual for detailed testing, how to take it apart, etc. Get the Parts Manual for the very best most detailed exploded views for re-assembly and making sure you get the right parts. I get all three on all my tractors. Saves money by avoiding needless purchases and cuts down time. Tom

What are you working on? 'Most always the OEM factory shop manuals are MUCH better than "Brand X", and, of course, more expensive, too.

I think the 2444 is the industrial version of the IH 504, and when I checked into OEM manuals, you had to buy a bunch of them, and it got pretty deep into your pocketbook. May be able to just get an engine manual, though. I agree OEM are better than IT, but be careful with copies of OEMs, because the copy quality is often bad, and the pictures are pretty much unusable.
