Lucky guy, gonna have a little one around. Medical tech is so good now they will take care of everything and you may have your baby just a little sooner. Thats just to keep you from getting too impatient waiting. All will turn out fine. You'll see. Good luck. Dean-o

Two of our three kids were born early. The total weights of all three is less than 10 lbs.

26 weeks is the magic number. Anything after that and the doctors have something to work with.

In 85 we were told that rate for "failed" pregnancies was over 10%.

Ignorance caused Brians (our firstborn) death. Knowledge is the cure for ignorance. Learn what you can and keep your wife focused on the big picture.

Good Luck

Just went through a similar situation iron. Had our little boy April 21st. Doctor was worried about even getting him to 26 weeks because of my wife's health problems. Each week came and went, until we had a C section at 37 weeks. He came out short and stocky, just like his old man! Just do what the doctors tell you to do. Things will work out for the best.

Since you are doing some reading, and obviously have access to the internet, do some reading on websites about other folks in same situation. I think you will be surprised how commmon this sort of thing is. I did not experience myself, but many folks I know did. Hang in there, make sure to do what the doc says, and keep talking to the BIG GUY upstairs, and I believe everything will work out. Sometimes we are tested in these ways to make us more appreciative of what we have.
God bless you & yours
Brian

Had a similar situation with my first son, he's 9 now. Listen to the Doc, let her rest and you'll look back on this in a few years wondering why you worried so much. But just as a little bit of insurance, we'll put you on the prayer list.

14 years ago my wife was in kind of same situation. Her blood pressure was sky high, probably from living with me, Dr. put her in bed at 6 months. Jamie was born at 7 months, weighed 2.9, 14 inches, he had NO PROBLEMS!! Stayed in hospital for 6 weeks until he weighed a little over 4 lbs. and we brought him home. He's fine, can't tell he was early. Got ya'll in our prayers.

The same thing happened to my wife. My son was born on 2-23-2001. But my wife was put on bed rest from 11-20-2000. Basically 3+ months of me doing all the wash, cooking, I worked 40hrs/week and my wife worked while in bed typing on a computer, 25hrs/week. My son turned out fine and he wasnt supposed to come on 4-1-01. My boy was 6lbs and 1 oz. He had tummy reflux and didnt sleep through the night until he was a year old but my boy is a healthy and happy kindergartener now and loves Star wars and spiderman. By the way I had to stop having **x with the wife from 10-2000 until 4-2001, 6 months, yikes.

I know the feeling about going without. I was in Korea from 5 Sep 05 to 16 Sep 06. Due to reasons too long to explain I ended up doing the "Iron Man Tour." Those last couple of months were extremely trying. Being around Asian Ladies (my wife is Asian) only made it even more intense. Now I'm five hours away and go home at least twice a month.

1st of July or last of July? Every week after 26 just makes things better.

In our prayers,

Thank goodnes you have some warning signs. 23 years ago my wife went into premature labor with no warning. We had premature twin boys (2 lb 8 oz each).

Technology has advanced a LOT since then and you should be fine as long as you do what the docs tell you. And even if she delivers early, there are LOTS better ways to deal with tiny babies than there were back when I went through it.

Beautiful stuff soon. Your wife is doing all the work now but she leaves all the worrying up to you now. That's your job now and you can handle it. Keep us posted or anybody local could do something. You gotta make sure your bills are paid up for the phones. I know it sounds stupid but around these times the worst dumn things can happen with the bills. It's all in your lap now, especially for a few months at least. There is folks here that really care.

Great place...lots of great information...and LOADS cheaper than seein' a shrink! Wifey quite doesn't understand yet. Says I'm always in cyber-space when I'm on here. 'Course I don't understand wife yet, so it's a good trade off. Good luck with the wife and baby...we have been there and it's not an easy deal. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
