"With production of only 125 units the D100 and G100 tractors are surely excellent collector items and although not many have begun collecting four-wheel drives there certainly won’t be enough of these to go around."... quoted from the site linked below.

I owned a G-100 for a couple of years, intending to put a loader on it. I never pulled it in the field, though. Someone thought they needed it, and made me an offer I couldn't turn down. I lost track of it shortly after he bought it, in the early 80's.

Have you seen that 1st production Steiger at the Blue & Red factory in Fargo Bob?

I toured it again 2 months ago, and it was gone, but they had it on display there 2 years ago, last time I was there.

I toured the factory back in 1976, and haven't been there since, except to drive by.

What was the name of the IH dealer at Langdon, built the new facility, then "folded' a couple of years later, where Christie's are now? They had a G-100 on their lot for a while, it may have been sold on their going out of business sale? Anyhow, it appeared to be the one I had owned and sold to another guy.

That first Steiger was stick steer.

The implement was D&H. The "H" part never quite went broke and have done well farming, but the D part went bust big time. Now they are back bigger than ever into the trucking, farming and oil business.

When you drive into Langdon from the west, that big new shop just east of Alco is theirs.

I remember being with my dad at their farm shortly before they went bust. They were testing 915s, I believe, for IH. 5 of them, lined up going down the field. Was really impressive in it's day.

Guys, I did not know that G100 and D100 production was that limited. There used to be a few in my area of central ND. Kracht imp in Carrington had a D100 which may be the one that sat a Beils truck salvage for years. Also Gross wrecking at Garrison had on on his lot. as I recall, the G100 came with an early Chrysler industrial poly angle 318 V8 and the D100 had a 6 cyl Ford inline diesel. neat little open station tractors. I dont think I ever saw one with a cab, factory or aftermarket .

I had an original 68 model G125 with factory cab. I bought it used with 1700 hrs on it in the early 70's and ran it for many years with the 391 Ford truck motor replaced with a performance built 406 Ford engine. Fuel economy was not bad for a gasoline tractor with still cheap gasoline, and power of the modified engine was more than the 4 18.4 X 38 tires could hold.

I later repowered it with a 6-71 Detroit diesel engine of 238 flywheel hp and installed duals to increase traction.

I ran that tractor until 86 then sold it locally. it was then owned by a couple of local farmers who ran it until the last one quit farming a couple years ago. The tractor is still running for the new owner who took it out of the area. All in all, it was a very simple and reliable tractor.

Jon,

Way back in about 1983 I (STUPIDLY) sold a good DEERE 830 ES to Beils. (They were going to use it, not scap it (I hope). I've often wondered if it is still around, or what happened to it!

Bob, the Biel family is into so many things in the Carrington area that between the truck parts business, the gravel hauling and truck business and several NAPA stores, they cover a lot of territory. The Beils at the Graval hauling and trucking business had a small collection of 2 cyl JD tractors, so hopefully your 830 electric start is among them.
