I've got a 69' ford 3400 tractor. It works and runs great. The problem with it is the tractor place I've been getting my plugs from has been giving me Autolite 405 not the AG5's the book calls for. Is the heat right for this plug? My plugs are coming out with dry fouling on them, they still work ,but, I want to keep it right. Any help would be great!

If you're dry fouling ( sooty, carbon black type fouling) it sounds like your mixture is too rich.

That"s kinda what i thought too. I"ll go and try to fix the carb, but it seem to smoke, I can,t find from were. I"ve done comp check, looked in the the cylinders and see no goo. I can"t get the valves out to change the seals, but they seem tight. o well, thanks for the confimation.
