I just came back from MacFaddens auction in Sharon Springs NY and I had about 10,000 lbs on my gooseneck trailer. ( 2 ford tractors ) . I have never had any trouble wqith this truck . I have 40,300 Miles . I was pulling a hill and it blew the Blue hose on the exhaust side of the turbo right off .It looks like the hose goes down and runs through a cooler in front of the radiator .This is the hose that connects directly off the turbo, it has a 45 Degree bend in it to connect to the tubing . Put it back on , and went a little and it did it again . Any thing over 2000 rpms and it would shoot it off. Anyone had this trouble and know why it happens ?? Thanks ...

Most but not all of those 6.0's are a load of constant trouble. You just can't get ahead of the troubles. That's the reason Ford dumped the motor design after only a few years. Best bet is to trade for a Duramax. About the only trouble with them is the injectors on the 02 thru 04 models otherwise pretty much bullit proof. The Cummins is also a good motor but the dodge truck has its short falls bodywise.

We got 2 of 'em where I work [ 6.0's ]..When 1 gets sick, the other follows suit...Turbo's , turbo hoses , miserable air filter to change . Fuel filter in the frame rails a pistol to drain if plug gets corroded..Nobody makes a rear axle nut socket when removing rotor and hub assy..Had to make one outa 3/16 x 1-1/2 flat stock..I won't bore you with any more..Oh did I mention poor fuel economy ???The new ones are worse to work on...I've seen some at the truck body upfitters getting belt driven hydraulic pumps...Oh my god , what a mess...

I have used a little contact cement on the connections of hoses to get them to stay put. Never tried it on a turbo hose but it should work. Other guys are right about getting the oil off first.

Hose the "nipple" and the inside of the hose down with BrakeKleen and wipe clean and dry before putting it back together. The oily residue from the crankcase vent gases sent back into the intake has made things so slickery it won't stay together.

I just went through this with a borrowed car carrier. I went to pick it up and the owner told me I had to go to the dealer and get a new turbo hose first. I put it on and had no trouble, but I didn't load it heavy. He was going to send it to the dealer the next week, but I haven't seen him to ask what the diagnosis was. We suspected that the turbo was over boosting, perhaps due to a bad sensor or waste gate. The owner used to work in a Ford dealership, and he said that this is a common problem with this engine.

Been there done that with both the powerstroke and also a cummins. The only thing you can do is get the hose as clean as you can and reclamp.Sometimes they put radiator type looking clamps on them, throw them away and get heavier duty bolt type clamp available at most auto parts stores. On the cummins the hose on one side is straight so we went to Mack trucks and got a thicker hose and it will never be able to peal out of there but where you have a bend in it you are stuck. The hose might have to be replaced with heavier clamps.I know it is frustrating because one day a 3 hr trip turned into 6 because of that.HOPE THIS HELPS.

I don"t know about the 6.0L but on the older 7.3L diesels the crank case vented into the turbo intake. The intercooler boots would get a little oil soaked and wouldn"t stay on. You may need to get some new intercooler boots and get everything cleaned up and tightened down.

haven't heard anything good about that engine/ truck.....sounds like that's the pressure side of the turbo that goes to your intercooler. something's probably restricted resulting in too much pressure.

not a dorf mechanic....just a guess. i know alot more detroits and cummins than that little international.

hope this helps.....good luck
