Well, guys, I was trying to press out the bearing shaft on the variator for my 110 JD. The bearings are in good shape, but they are starting to get dry, so I wanted to clean and lube them. First I have to say that JD pressing this damn thing together is BS. Well The 20ton press did a number on one of the variators half pulleys. I thought it was steel, turns out its cast iron. I have jb welded it, the pieces fit perfect, so thats good. I forgot I had some cast iron welding rod, I'd have noitched the joints and welded it up and ground it smooth. If this doesnt hold, I'll try that. Now, What I'm left with is the stupid shat is still pressed in the arm, and pressed into the bearing and hub. I have to get this thing apart so I can put this pulley half back on.JD has the bearings and shaft as an assembly, but how the heck do you get them in if tyou cant get the old one out. The shaft and bearing is only $13, and they have 4 on hand, so I might ask to check one out see if it gives me an idea. Of course they sell the hub and bearing assembly for like $91. Anyone ever had these apart?
