After running my 1951 Harry Ferguson for a couple hours I noticed gas shooting out the cap. After shutting the engine off I took the cap off and saw the gas in the tank boiling and the radiator was fine not over heating.

I had the same problem with my Ferguson. I went to NAPA, got some heat shield material. It is some type of fiber that is faced on each side with metallic sheathing. Just remove the take and place the shielding on tank. (Being a redneck, I used Bailing wire) Stopped the boiling

new formulation gas has a lower vapor point because newer cars have fuel pumps that run in the 7-14 psi range, and older carburated vehicles ran at 3-5 psi when fed by a mechanical pump.now on gravity feed systems you can have some problems , especialy if the tank is over the engine like on your fergison. I would recomend fabbing a heat shield under the tank , and around the exaust if yours vents to the top, instead of under the tractor . an air gap between the tank and shield of 1/2 " should be good.My old VW beetle had problems with "Vapor Lock " in the fuel pump shortly after these new formulations came out in the late '80's ...always carried some water in the summer and rags to soak the fuel pump with on a hot day. cooled it down a little and it would start back up , and I was good to go, unless I got stuck in traffic. Good luck Shawn

Thanks Shawn I did hear the new gas did boil at a lower temp and Iam going to put some kind of heat reducing shield under the tank.

I would bet that you have a bare cable rubbing your gas tank causing it to heating it up.

I saw this happen with a 550 gallon undergound tank one time, it never actually boiled, but got very hot. I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.
