To anyone that can help me, I need a tachometer for my 1956 Farmall 300. I recently received one from Brad Marshall but unfortunately it is the type that is too large for this particular 300. Apparently I need a smaller tach. If anyone can help steer me to where I can find one that would be appreciated.

Also, will a distributor drive gear for a tach from a 400 work correctly on a 300?

By the way, although this part didn't work, Brad Marshall is an excellent person to buy parts from. Great prices and excellent service.

If you got the same one I got, it is actually for a 300 utility. You can make it work though. You just have to loosen a few cap screws, turn the face upside down in the housing and change to location of the holes in your tack mounting bracket. The speeds are slightly slower, but I like it more for the RPM reading and hour meter anyway. Plus these have a back light that the original did not have. Once you get it figured out it shouild work great for you if you decide to go ahead and use it. Just my 2 cents...

Kevin, there is a NOS tach on ebay now. But it has a 300 dollar starting price on it. I would think the drive gears are the same, but not 100% sure as my 350 is diesel and they drive from the generator on those.

If you're 12 V this might work.
