hydraulic problem on IH TD-9 w/ Drott skid steer loader

I have an older International Harvester track type TD-9 with a Drott skid steer loader. The hydraulic system has become jerky, (very) slow, and sqeals some, but it is still powerful although the fluid is milky. I tried replacing half of the fluid to see if that would help and it didn't seem to make a difference. The filler cap has a magnetic bar attached to it that extends down into the hydraulic reservior. When I pull it out to check on the fluid, it has a new batch of very fine black shavings on it which I'm assuming is metal from something wearing in the system. Is there anyone out there who can help me diagnose this problem? Is my hydraulic pump wearing out? What confuses me is that I'm still getting full power while it is jerky and incredibly slow. I sure appreciate any help that anyone can offer. Thanks!

The squeal is most likely one of the relief valves by passing. if you have a lot of metal shavings then the pump must be going because that it the only place it can come from. I would pull the pump and go though it them completely flush the entire system to get rid of the water and shavings. I know it sounds like a lot of work but it will save you a lot of trouble later on.

YOU should change oil complete and filter hydrolique and clean the oil tank with fuel and refill new oil in and should be oké.

Yes, change the oil, and the hydraulic motors that run the unit may be sticking themselves and may need to be rebuilt.

Aloha, Don"t know too much about your problem, but if the oil is milky, sounds like water mixed with oil. My dad had a TD-15 track loader and he had a blown filter and it caused a lot of problems. The squeel could be coming from the pump but I would check the filter to see if it is clogged (if it has one).
