I am thinking about buying a skid loader. I would be using it for some grading, manure, and moving 4 x 4 round bales, etc... What is your opinion of the bobcat 743. Is this a good model?

Thanks,
Tjh72

Tjh, The Bobcat 743 is an excellent machine. My old man bought one new in '87(for $18,000 I beleive) and we(knock on wood) haven't had a bit of problems(other than battery, starter, and common things) with it. It does have a kabota engine. Lift capacity is 1100#, or 1300# if I remember right.

He bought it for the business he had at the time, but we used it for everything. I could be wrong, but I don't think the 751 is bigger. I thought the 751 was just the computer replacement for the 743, not sure.

Anyway, if you decide to get it, you will not be disapointed. Just my 2. Doug N

Are the 4x4's dry or silage?I'm not familiar with a 743,if it happens to be smaller than the 751 we have,it will be too small,as a 751 is about as small as you would want.A 743 may be newer and larger than our 751???Anyways,if it has a Kubota engine in it,it certainly should be a reliable skider.Bob Cats are as good a machine as any out there,so as long as it has a Kubota, will lift what you want, and is in good running condition,I say go for it.

a 743 is smaller then a 751, less lift and less hp. the 743 does have a kubota. I had a 741 bobcat, same frame as a 743 but the 741 has a Duetz engine. I now have a John Deere 250 series 2 and all the 200 series has over heating issues as far as I know. I use mine mostly for backfilling after digging with a 310sg backhoe, so the dirt is loose, and I use gravel for backfilling also which is loose to. If it's say 80 degrees and up it wants to ride next to the red on the gauge. The lift is kinda weak at the bottom until you get it up a couple feet, then it's ok. back to the bobcat the 741 I had was good for the size it was, I had no problems with it other then it was kinda small.
