looking around the yard got me wondering what ever happend to these companies

Wauk built engines for practically everything, except I've not found any in cars. In the early years, up to the depression, most of the makes of cars and trucks were "assembled", and Wauks were in trucks, tractors, farm,const and ind'l equip, RR stuff etc up thru the years (I don't recall any aircraft engines) as well as massive ind'l and oilfield power units running on Nat'l and sewer gas (much lower power on sewer gas). Marine I'm not familiar with but I have an April 1942 issue of Diesel Power ("Diesel Eng Spec Issue") that lists marine engines up to 8cyl 191/2x28 (168,000 lbs, 240 RPM) and Wauk only lists Wauk-Hesselmans (diesel inj, sparkplug ign) marine units to 6cyl 81/2x81/2, but they may well have built larger.
I have a manual for a 7040ci V12 oilfield power unit that uses an FC, the 4-cyl tractor etc engine, for a starter motor. Lots of Wauks still going down the road and working the fields.
It's said when Dresser took them over they quit the "small" engine business, and are no help on obsolete parts.

The Minnesota Line was made by the Minnesota State Prison system. It has been somewhat "retooled" away from machinery. They now make mailbox posts, office furniture, etc. Check out MINNCOR on the web.

Waukesha Motors is part of Dressler. They make large engines for oil fields that run on natural gas

i think farmhand and kewannee are part of what
is now agco. my skid loader has decal that tells me is a owatonna mustang. it is pea green in color. i think that are called mustang now and are industrail yellow in color.

Farm Hand was bought out by Agco. Owatonna Is long gone I think they where bought out by Mustang which is now owned by Gehl. Kewaunee also gone for years just went out of business or something like that. Wisconsin Engine is still going I believe. Minnesota is still building running gears. I don't think Waukesha engine is no more.

Haven't heard of Gehl in years, is it still around? Used to be the most popular forage harvester and chopper wagon around in these parts. Fox did not exist here.

How far out in the boondocks are you? :) We've never had anything but Gehl round balers since the late 70s. We still have several other pieces of Gehl equipment as well. Our local Agco dealer sells them.

Right in the center of the heaviest agricultur area of Ohio. The Gehl dealer closed up several year ago and at that time is when it seems Gehl dissapered. We have an Agco dealer about 7 mile away, Deere about 9 and Case-IH about 15 and Kuboto about 7

If I remember right Gehl announced about a year ago that they were getting out of farm machinery but they are still making skid loaders.

Those junk things, a few years ago the new Car SREADER had them ,Had to Change over to Electric,THEY ALL kept Blowing up!!!

What kind of engines do they make? I saw on TV somewhere they make giant engines for ocean going vessles? Do they make anything we would recognize today in any of our machinery?

They make a lot of industrial engines and have for a long time. Some older draglines and stuff have used them and a few tractors as well I believe. Dave
