I'm in Orlando, FL for a week or so with the kids having a great vacation. First time I've been to the southeast US - sure having a great time and seeing new sights.

We're staying at the Radisson near Disney world and I've been surprised at the (to me anyway) very high percentage of foreigners everywhere - I can't even recognize a lot of the languages, a LOT of French and Spanish tourists and hotel and Disney workers with accents so thick I have to really work at understanding them.

ANYWAY, I've been really surprised at the high # of JD T-shirts I've seen. Probably a dozen so far. I tried asking the young oriental guy wearing one in the elevator last night if he farmed or had a JD and he couldn't even understand what I was asking...

Just wondering if John Deere T-shirts were turning into a fad like Eskimo Joe's or Hard Rock Cafe, or if there are really that many hardcore JD fans across the world...

Howard

Howard
As of yesterday it's 71 dollars for a one day entry pass. We went the month it opened and for two adults I got change back from a twenty.
Craker Barrel would have to close if they did not have the junk items for sale. Boot leg sales at the flea markets for JD are big.

I myself own one John Deere shirt and three Allis Chalmer shirts, and I can't believe how trendy wearing a John Deere shirt has become. Most of the kids at college I run across wearing them don't even know what a tractor is. third party image

Hard to believe, but Harley-Davidson makes more money off their name than they do on their motorcycles. All the branded stuff like t-shirts, boots ,Ford pick-ups makes them a TON of money.
John Deere is a fad amongst the teenagers except my son won't wear one and we own one. Go figure.

Just drop by your local TSC, you will see a ton of JD stuff. T-shirits, hats, bandanas, coffee cups, travel mugs, pictures, toys and of course for the dog lovers.....JD dog collars and leashes and chew toys of all kinds with the green and yellow and logos. Also a bunch of Harley dog collars too, I guess it's a fad now days.

You can go to a lot of these optical places and get John Deere frames for you glasses. JD has its "you know what" stuck into about everything it comes near.

Don't know about the shirts but the high percentage of foreigners is a result of the dollar being weak against foreign currencies. A vacation in the USA is more affordable now for them including the JD souviner shirts.

I would venture that companies such as Deere and Harley derive a good percentage of their earnings from clothing sales and licensing rights..

J C Penney stores in Norman and OKC were loaded with JD stuff a while back. Thought it was probably aimed at the college crowd.
