Restoring a 40's era Mongomery Wards wagon. It has 5 hole rims. 2 are good , 1 is shot, and 1 is wrong rim. What other rims car, truck, or other would fit on it. She's all sanded and painted, got new knees and elbows, all it needs now is a set of matching rims and shes as good as she was when bought new. Original owner in his 90's is gonna love seeing it. It was his 1st rubber wheeled wagon, bought it new, then his brother traded the tires off it when he came back from "over there", apparently the wagon tires new were better than the tires that came on new cars at the time.

I am in the process of restoring a 50's (I think) wagon made by Sears Roebuck and I found some trailer 5 bolt rims and tires for it at a junk trailer lot. Fiot perfect. Had some old wire spoke wheels but could not get them over the hub

Try to find some wheels from an Electric Wheel gear. Lots of them around, many got wrecked be cause they did not turn short.

Usually what goes bad is the rims rust out, sometimes near the valve stem hole. I have repaired other "oddball" wheels by cutting off the old rim and cutting the center out of another good wheel. If you are careful the weld won't be all that noticeable. Carefully mark both wheels before you start cutting and use some scrap to hold everything in line and level. It won't work for an Indy car but it's fine for a wagon or plow, etc.

It may help to measure the hbolt circle on it, then we may know of some rims of that pattern if we aren't familiar with what they had way back when.

here's the link ot Miller tire. They havce several different 5 bolt sizes, and they show how to measure a 5-bolt rim in the FAQ's section.

5 1/2" bolt circle, 4" center hole. Same as standard 5 lug on any inplement.

IN that case there's a whole bunch that will fit. Rims off any ford 1/2 ton truck w/ a 5 bolt rim, Older Jeeps, I think even Dodge used that pattern. Trouble with ford rims is the center pilot bore is small, so it's have to be cut out.

I found all the standard 5 on 5 1/2" rims I needed at a boneyard. They had a large pile of tires of all sorts, just found 4 that were the 5 bolt 15" rim. Found 2 or 3 more at the local metal scrap yard. Nothing wrong other then the ugly puke green paint on one...

I think that bolt pattern is the same as what was used for the pre-'73 Ford 1/2 ton trucks, but the truck wheels will probably not look quite right. Most of the wagons from that era used the same wheels with the same bolt pattern, and there may even be some modern implements that still use that same wheel.
