As Dan from Iowa pointed out, the Floyd County Historical Museum should be on your list. Charles City is where Charles Hart and Charles Parr settled after acquiring (among other things) the Oliver Chilled Plow Corp. They dropped the Hart-Parr name and consolidated most of their new company in Charles City. The Floyd County Musem has a lot of info on this and many other things as well.

I recommend the John Deere pavilion at Moline, IL and just past that on I-80 just into Iowa it a resturaunt called the "Machine Shed" dedicated to farmers. The pavillion has a restoration facility a block away not to miss.

The Floyd County Historical Museum is a great place to see. I went and bugged my local White mechanic about where to find service manuals and found out that if you can't find what you want anywhere else, these are the people you want to talk to. Bring us back contact info, willya?

The weekend after labor day is a small farm/tractor/threshing show in western Iowa. Carstens Farm, near Shelby Ia, just off I-80. A smaller show, but a very good one, with living history as well.

Dave, The Farm Progress Show is at Decatur Il Aug. 28-30. It is not very far from the Rantoul tractor show which is 23-26 I believe.

Over Labor Day Weekend there are thresher's shows at Charles City and at Mt. Pleasant Iowa. Mt. Pleasant is the big Old Thresher's Reunion. It can take a couple days to see it all. Begins on Thursday. Charles City, I think, begins on Friday.

Aug 25,26 there is one at Homer, Ia.

This weekend there is one at Belmond, Ia.

There probably are several more that I've not been interested enough in to remember them.

I'll be headed for Lake Itasca MN for hot air engines and threshing this weekend.

Dave:

If you are coming around Labor Day weekend there is the Cedar Valley Engine Club Show 7 miles west of Charles City. We are featuring Case this year, but there are always a nice selection of Olivers, Hart-Parrs & Minneapolis-Molines at the show.
