Does anyone know where to get rid of anti-freeze? No one seems to know and it has to go somewhere! The quicky oil change places & car/tractor dealers must send it away somehow. I have a few gallons to dispose of.

Most shops get the stuff recycled. I have a 55 gallon drum that is clean stuff and another for used stuff. I call the guy and he comes in and adds and filters whatever it needs to make it good again. Already 50/50 mix. When I worked for a tractor dealer that is what they used. Shops don't bother buying new stuff any more.

10 years ago when I worked in a shop in Westfield IN, we were told by the town that the sewage treatment plant would handle it, so down the drain it went. Things may have changed now so check to be sure.

I used some to load tractor tires rather than use calcium chloride.Maybe you could find someone near you that could use it mfor that , or check with a garage or parts store that accepts used oil, maybe they can take it. I wouldnt advise pouring it down the drain or on the ground. Most antifreeze is very toxic and also tasty to animals.

Almost all local trash disposal sites have aan oil and/or antifreeze disposal cans. I llive well out in the country and our trash disposal unit accepts all of that plus paints and solvents. It is not good to put anything in a septic tank unless it has been eaten or is highly digestable paper. Of course if you dont mind having it pumped every year have a good time.

If you poured it down a woodchuck hole, perhaps you could "kill two woodchucks with one pour".

I have around 2000 gals of 20% ethylene glycol. There are disposal companies that will take it for a fee. I think they turn around and sell it back to the anti-freeze companies.

It may be possible to use it as a feedstock for polyethylene. Most post-consumer plastics have scrap value. This is particularly true in Asia where you get the best prices.

i use it to water down old gasoline to burn the brush with. it stretches it out, and makes it a little safer to burn. same way with old oil and grease.

Yes...

Put it in your tires for weight/ballast. In car tires put an about 10 oz. in them and you will never have to balance them again. Put them in your 4-wheeler and it works better then slime to stop them from leaking from small punchers. Good luck, Paul

Around here the mechanic shops are required to take used anti-freeze (a reasonable amount at a time) and recycle it.

Used oil is taken by the AutoZone and Checkers... I"m sure the mechanic shops have to take it too...

Most recycling facilities take used anti-freeze. My John Deere dealer gives it to farmers who need it to winterize their liquid fertilizer pumps. They call it "reconditioned". I would guess all they've done is filter it. After that second use I believe the old rule "the solution to pollution is dilution" probably applies for most.

I'd find a dry spot away from you well, dig a hole, & dump it in.

It is biodegadable, but I wouldn't dump it in a hole.

We were told that anti-freeze will break down in water so it is OK to pour it into the toilet.

It doesn't break down in the water in an engine cooling system. Many of us have septic systems and I don't think I would chance flushing it.

Don't put in in a septic system, but municipal sewage systems can handle it
