I am 15 yrs old and love antique tractors. I have a 1948 Farmall M, 1951 farmall H, and a 1951 Massey Harris 44-6. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that was 18 yrs old or younger. I only know of one other person and he goes by the name of Lanse. I was also wondering if there are any female collectors. I havent been running across any.

I'm getting ready to turn 33, always loved JD, use to plow & disk with my uncles 520 after school & on the weekend. Bought my first tractor, a JD 40, when I was 19. Now own 7 JD's & 2 Farmalls. Your collection will grow with what your wallet will allow, enjoy, I love'em all!!

I know what you mean about funny looks at the parts counter. The last time I went to the dealer the guy thought I was asking about a toy! I currrently have a 41 B and a 60's era 494A planter. The B is restored and runs like a top and the planter is in great shape but could use a new paint job. I am 23, in college, and work two jobs (75-80hours) and make in the 50-60 grand a year range. People find it hard to believe that someone of such a young age can do it, but Im not the only one and I think the good "kids" in the world are finally getting noticed. Just my two cents, all of the younger ones Ive read on here seem to be good people. Caleb

My son Tanner is 14. He won the right to take his creation (a redesigned Craftsman 40" riding mower now a front engine mini-tractor) to the Minnesota State fair. Visit the 4H building and look for it the end of the month. He will be there for three days with his buds in 4H. JimN

I don't know how many female collectors there are out there but I advertised a 300 Farmall on this PHOTO ADS and a lady called me and said she wanted the tractor but lived 6-8 hours away. I asked her when she could pick it up and she told me in a couple of days. She called me on a Friday and said she was leaving after work and would be there at 1 AM and I told her to come on. That night she got here about 1AM pulling a heavy duty trailer with ton pickup. She rolled out of that truck and we loaded that tractor in a few minutes. She had on work gloves and had that tractor strapped down and paid me and took off. She told me she had to be at work at 8 the next morning. She brought a lady with her to keep her company. What surprised me was ,she was a good looking womad!!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !

I collect them and pull them. At our last pull, one of the guys in our club told me he didn't want to arm wrestle me, he had been watching me move weights around. The 70 pound weights aren't too bad, but those 100 pound weights are heavy. We have 3 women that pull in our club.

well I am not 18 any more. I am 25 and I blame this hobby on my dad he got me started at age 5 and it stuck I collect any thing Minneapolis Moline have several tractors and equipment. I Farm fulltime with a Sow Farrowing operation. Yeah. I would say there are several $100,000 gross incomes (that is not the net which is what matters at the end of the year)on here about any not all though full time farmers are going to have that but I would also say there are more $30000 to $50000 incomes on this board. It is a fun hobby and I like to see young people involved and hope they keep coming.

I'm 14. I have two tractors, 1943 Farmall H and a 1949 John Deere A. I really want to find a 1943 Farmall M and many other Farmalls and John Deeres, but I would like to get just one Massey tractor, a Massey Harris 44 rowcrop gas tractor. I'm working on my two year old brother's 1936 Farmall F-12 too. I enjoy antique tractors and small engines.

Andy.

These are some great people here. Just stay away from the deere board or it becomes the bash board (in my experience)!! I'm workin for an H, workin hard. I do usually very limited work on garden tractors/lawnmowers. These are some great people, I've learned alot from them, not just about tractors, but life in genral. Wonderful people.

Difficult to get a accurate tally here. Computers are little used by old tractor collectors or middle aged/seniors of any vocation. Computer users are either young or the technical types with a professional income and a hobby farm or rural estate.

I would think any smart farmer that has any decent size operation would use the computer extensively. From weather radar, crop and livestock prices, equipment parts, and management software. I don't know how a decent size operation could work efficiently without it. I would'nt be doing hay without the computer because that's where I've learned 90% of my information and where I find a lot of my equipment and parts.

Serious $$$ to afford an expensive hobby such as a farm, large rural estate and lots of toys. There are lots of $100,000+ incomes on this site.

Good to hear from you. I'm glad some of our young people are getting into this hobby. My daughter who is 11 years old also enjoys old tractors. She goes with me to shows, pulls, and plow days. She even does some of the announcing at our tractor pulls. All that will probably change when some boy comes around. Anyhow, good luck with your hobby.

Good Luck and press on. When I was in my teens, I wanted to collect/restore old pickups and farm machinery. Due to money constraints, responsibilities, school and etc. We had old pickups and a few old tractors but never got to do more than keep them going. Worked as an ag and industrial mechanic for seven years. Now, after 22 years in the service, and two more years to retirement I am trying to get myself set up to get into it again. At 46 I'm not a kid anymore but sometimes I sure act and feel like one. The problem is my body a lot of the time thinks that it's a lot older than my age is...too many bumps from my alma mater "The School Of Hard Knocks" and being hard headed.

Press On With Pride, and keep that old iron out of the salvage yards to be melted down.

Dalton, you are in a great hobby and I am glad to see some younger folks taking an interest. I know of at least one youngun thats into the hobby. He is 18, just starting college and I have been helping him restore an LA Case Propane tractor. He also owns two other tractors and a threshing machine. Keep up the good work.

I'm not 18 by any means anymore, but I'm still a youngun by many standards. I'll be turning 23 in October- I've got my Grandpa's Oliver 1600 all restored, and farm with that one along with our 1855, Massey 165 and 285.

I've got a 1755 Ollie out back that I've been itching to tear into for the last 5 years since it blew the engine.

Dalton, I'm 23 and I've been into fixing my Massey since I was 16 and I finally had it done a few years ago. I inherited all my projects, except for the grain drill I'm rebuilding and, much like the others I commend you for fixing and caring for something that is obstensively four times your age.

Out of curiousity, do you get those weird looks when you go the dealer's parts counters asking for parts? I know I do when I get parts for my Drill.

I'm 16 with a 1937 JD A, 1958 John Deere 30 pull-type combine, 8 ft. disk and 2x12 plow. I can relate to the weird looks thing. I know the parts guy pretty well now but when I went in there two years ago asking for the main drive belt to a John Deere 30 pull-type combine I caught a confused look on the guy's face to say the least.
