A friend of mine has a 64 ford diesel tractor 600 series or something like that. Where can he find what type of fluids go in the rearend, Transmission and the hydraulic system? Any help would be appreciated.

Mark

Is it a Select-o-Speed? If so ,Hydraulic fluid should be used in it and the Hydraulics and Final Drive. They have a habit of swapping Fluids.

Mark,I'm just trying to help. The Ford 800 tractor was manufactored from 1955 thru 1957.The fluids should be equilivent to the Ford/New Holland MC134A hydraulic fluid. Some people use 80/90 wt. in the rearend, but if the rearend and the lift share the same oil and i believe they do on that tractor then, you need to use the thinner hydraulic fluid. If not your lift will be slow and maybe not work at all this winter. The hydraulic pump does not handle the thick oil so well. The transmisson carries the same oil.

Mark

Looks like you are getting no where on here. I can't help you either, but I would suggest you just call you local New Holland dealer and ask them.

Basic owner maintenance is covered in the tractor's Operator manual. Oil types, change interval, fill/drain locations, controls ID, etc. Service manuals don't usually cover that- they are for disassembly and repair of components. Parts manuals give part numbers with exploded views of how things go together.

Well, can you please tell me what kind of fluids go in there? I don't want to have to buy a manual since they are over $100. Any help would be great. Thanks

Another thought is you don`t know what tractor you have. No such thing as a 1964 600.
Different fluids go in different tractors.
Really need to figure out what tractor you have and get a manual

Ok, I will let him know. He said he went to the ford dealer and they told him Hydraulic fluids go in everywhere. The emblem on the front says Ford 800. Does that help?

You can use hy-tran in all three places or you can use hyd oil on the middle one and 80W-90 or 80W-140 in the tranny and rear end. Either one/way works just fine. Theres a drain for the tranny the center area which is hyds and one for the rear end. All three also have fill plugs up high on them

A basic owners manual would be around 20 bucks don`t know who told you 100
I just bought one for my 801
You can find them on e-bay or go to a new holland dealer maybe even have one in stock
