I had a 478 that was 7 foot. It was pretty good just slow. Had to have the wobble unit rebuilt one time, other than that just normal stuff.

Other than that is was good. Traded it off because of fire ants mounds plugging it and bought a disc cutter.

I have a NH 469 haybine. It is a 9 foot wide model. Yours should be a 467. In regards to the rolls hanging up, you need to time them in together. The ribs on the rolls must not touch each other. The lower roll (on the drive side) has an adjustment flange on the end of it where you can advance or retard the position of the roll so that it meshes with the upper one properly. This isn't hard to do. Also the drive chains should be kept taught so there is no back-lash. Around here, a good machine will go for about $1,500.

Hey Walt,,
I have a NH model 77 baler and I'm finding it harder and harder to find parts for it. Where do you find parts for your model 78? I don't need anything right now, but most likely in the future. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dick

Dick I got all mine at the local dealer they told me that they could get most parts for it. Even had what I wanted right there. The 77 might be older than mine also you local dealer might just be two lazy to stock or get parts for you.
Walt

PS when i rebuilt the pickup I just went down and bought some black iron pipe and some washers and and made my own parts for it. cost a whole lot less.

Thanks Walt,
I think you're right about lazy parts dept. employees. A good parts person is a valuable asset to a parts store. It's easy and cheap to hire young people that don't know what New Holland is,, they think that's a place in Europe. This is the problem here, a good parts salesman that will try to help you. You're also right about using the steel pipe instead of NH parts that would cost a fortune.. Good advice Walt..
Thanks

I have a NH 78 and parts are still available for it. I had to rebuild the whole pickup system as it was completely worn out. Check all parts for ware also the feed into the bale chamber bearings will be shot but can be replaced.
these things can look good but be worn beyond what they are worth to fix. Check it ocer real good from front to back and all bearings and chains and other moving parts. check knotters for excesive wear.
Walt
