Lots of truth to that. I cant see putting $250 in hay into a cow to have a $500 calf. I'm surprised that a lot of people arent selling their cows and their hay.

Don't know why so many are so upset. I have plenty of hay (I think) I am just going to be short on cows. Culled pretty deep early this summer while they were still fat. Baled about 2 miles of water ways on a guy up the road. Baled 10 acres of ground 8 miles up the road that a year ago I would have told you I would not have drug a baler across for the hill itself let alone the hay on it. Have about 50 acres of corn stalks to put a hot wire round this fall. 20 more acres of stalks to bale. And still might need to cull a few more mommas. But I think I will have plenty of hay. Oh and I forgot about the 10 acres of early beans I am going plant in Marshall Ryegrass and 4 acres of tobacco ground that is going in wheat as soon as it gets cut.

Good Luck

Dave
