Just bought a 230 out of the weeds and I can't tell what the Ser# is looks like 355986R2. Can anyone help?

Serial number is on a metal tag located on the tool box under the seat. If tag is missing the best you can do is find a casting code like this 4*16*D it is on a small tag on all major castings. Looks like it is riveted to the casting.

I found 1*2*6 on one spot and on the engine I found a stamped number of 181779 and 6*2*? just below it.

That's an IH part number. Where'd ya get it? Off the block?
