What is the longest distance you have ever driven daily to and from work. We have people here that drive from the NY/PA border tclear up to Buffalo and Rochester, ny daily

When i was working on a gas pipe-line as an 25 ton excavator driver ,60 miles ,Leave the house at 4.30 and get back to the house at 11pm for 2 years 6 days a week ..$30 an hour why not ?

45 miles round trip at work 356 miles round trip Springfield, MO to Tulsa, OK in a big truck every other day 358 when I fuel at Joplin, MO

a little over 800 miles 1 way had a steady run from ST Louis to Fords NJ 3 times a week made it in 17 hours 1 way

Currently driving 74 miles each way.... for 61/2 years now. Only 11 more years to early retirement... if the gas pump don't retire me first!

300 to 500 miles a day. I drive a semi locally for construction and hauling grain. Never more than 75 miles from home.

I used to drive 67 miles round trip for 6 years. Now I only have to drive 44 round trip. Mrs. redneck has to drive about 90 miles round trip. (good thing she has a 4 cylinder)

I've had an 85-mile one-way commute for nine years, from central Virginia to Washington, DC. Most days I drive to Fredericksburg, VA (30 miiles) and ride in a vanpool (55 miles). A few days a month, I get the ... joy of driving the van. Driving south on I-95 on a Friday afternoon in the summer is more fun than the average man can stand.
I'm eligible to retire in one year, nine months, and 27 days. Don't get between me and the front door at 4:00 p.m. on that day third party image

50 miles each way was typical with different jobs from '92 to this year -- about May when gas prices made me cry Uncle.

I've started increasingly working from home when I can...sometimes I'll go two weeks without leaving. Kind of weird to fill up and still have 3/4 of a tank a week later :D

Now that my contracts are picking up and I still have little commute, the wallet is much appreciating it!

Last year worked some "cleanup" from a previous project out in NY near PA. Something like 230 miles each way. Was cheaper to rent a car and pay for the gas for the three days then get a hotel room & put the dogs in a kennel. I'd be home at 10pm, leave 4:30am.

105miles to and from work. 310 miles in a big truck while I'm there. Plus 4 hours unload and reload time at work. Going on 33 years of it and can retire anytime. Don't know if the small farm operation I,ve been running for the last 30yrs on the side will be enough to keep me busy.

165 miles one way on mondays and fridays, fridays also included another 50 to 60 to the jobsites from my other home, rest of the week was 50-60 miles one way, depending on job locations sometimes it was closer. Say around 15 years of commuting to NYC, the jobs changed but there was always lots of time in the car or truck. Was always good to look at the calendar to see when holidays, vacation and other oppurtunities existed to extend a weekend or combine days off, because regular weekends were tought to really get anything done, saturday you're beat from a 60-70 hour week and sunday, time to pack up again, or cut the day short because of the extra early monday start to be on time. I liked what I did to an extent but the commute was always an additional part time job, + the oil changes, vehicle maintenance, not the easiest or most enjoyable lifestyle, money was good, kind of glad I'm away from it now.

Had a 16 mile round trip commute for 21 years, got the shaft from that company. Commuted 24 miles round trip for a month as a temp millwright, then was snatched up by a competing company (for people), and the commute has been 18 miles round trip for the past 7 years, mostly 4 lane highway (and Pa road construction of course).

I don't drive,I walk to the barn. My oldest son drives 120 miles round trip every day to Lansing. The wife worked in Grand Rapids,100 mile round trip for a while,my younger son did it for a year and a half,up until a week ago when he quit and went to work for a carpenter here locally. If you live in Montcalm County,here in Michigan and want a job,you about have to go to Lansing or GR.

I drove 106 miles round trip for a little over 20 years. Lots of times 6 days a week, and sometimes 7. For the 12 years or so prior to that it was 72 miles per day. I retired in 2002, and now seldom drive 200 miles per month! For some reason, I'm now very content not being in a vehicle!

For 2 years I commuted 147 miles ONE WAY between Perry, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska.

It"s a small world out here. I"m originally from Washington Iowa and now live in Aurora NE. However, my sister and brother in law have lived in Perry for 25 years or so. My sister works as Wells Fargo in Perry and my brother in law is MAC construction. Do you know of him?

Flew 95 miles each way once when I was in the Marine Corps. We lived on one base and worked on another. They shuttled us back and forth with an old Gooney Bird.

Longest: 1 mile on a 4 wheeler every day of the year for 3 years. Winter can get chilly. Now it takes me longer to put on my boots than it does to commute to work. I live where i work. The truck stays in the garage all week and only comes out when its time to see the girlfriend. IT good cause that toyota is a thirsty girl.

Never had more than a 25 mile commute - and those were short-term jobs.

Currently commuting about 14 miles one-way in traffic to drop my wife off at work, and then continue to mine. Sure has saved a lot of money for us to commute together. Takes a little extra time for both of us, but well worth the savings.

Once we move to the new house, commute will be about 12 miles, but far less traffic coming from the other end of town.

Of the four jobs I've had in 26 years, I've never had more than a 12 minute commute. I can't keep up at home the way it is, let alone spending 1-2 hours/day commuting. I don't see how people do it.

I Live in NW Wi and commuted 90 miles 1 way for 2 years. Its no wonder people "snap" with the way the idiots drive in the big cities. Now I drive 6 miles and hardly ever see a car on my way to work, but I have hit 6 deer in the last 3 years. Good thing they are tasty!!!!!

From Corpus Christi, TX to the Naval base outside of Ingleside, about 60 miles or so one way. Did that for a few months before getting out. The next long drive was 45 miles each morning, in traffic, to park my pickup and get my service truck. Then it was another 30 or so miles back to the plant I normally worked out of or where ever I was needed first that day. Then it was drive around most of the day between plants, as needed, and repeat the process at the end of the day to swap trucks, again all in rush hour traffic. Did that til I convinced them it would be alot smarter to let me park the service truck at their truck shop which was 20 plus miles closer to home as well as alot closer to the batch plants I typically maintained. Now my actual commute consists of less than a block around the corner to dad's shop. I love it.
