I have a Farmall M tractor with factory orginal wide front, no welds or repairs. It also has orginal mud tire protectors (next to driver"s legs). The metal is faded red-orange but very straight. Decals can be seen but they too are faded. Starts up quickly and strong. No smoke. Moves well, back and forth and through all gears. One rear low-tire, some cracking of the rubber. Has regular "U" shaped hitch to it, PTO present. It is a 1947 farmall based on the plate number. What is a true value of this tractor? Is this a rare tractor? What should I expect to get at auction? From a private buyer? Hope to hear from you guys of great knowledge. thanks, charley

I am in agreement with removing the wide front and selling it seperate from the tractor. Most tractor salvage places have the narrow front boaster and usually cheap.Sell the tractor for 1500 and the front end for 800.Somewhere in that neighborhood.Maybe even ask more for the tractor and then come down.

You can sell the wide front alone for 8-900 then go to a salvage yd and get a narrow front.Just call around and price a original wide front. Auctions just dont get wide spread coverage and things can go cheap depending on who attends.

Rex is not far off. If it sells for 1500 it is on par with most locations. The best tractors were produced the most, and that is one of them. JimN

It's not a rare tractor. By your description it's in average condition. The fact that it could use rubber (like most do) hurts some. The wide front might make it more desirable. As for value sold to a private individual could range from $1000 - $2500, just depends. At auction I would guess around $1500. (Although I recently watched a '51 Super M with a wide front, good power steering/no TA sell for $2650 at private auction to a dealer and it needed some oil leaks fixed, paint, and a rear tire/rim, but it was useable as is. To me he paid retail. Not much profit at that price.)

I myself paid $950 for a complete "H" with a bushog in the condition you described your M. While not the same tractor you can get an idea. Value is subjective to each individual tractor and unless one can see it, it's not easy to put a price on it as few are ever truly as someone describes.
