I got the brakes cleaned out and put back together. Took apart the wheel cylinder and cleaned and honed it out. When I put it back together, I wondered about putting some oil or brake fluid on piston for lubrication and to protect wall, but left it dry. It has a new rubber seal so that should keep moisture and dirt out, but wondered if I should have put something on the cylinder wall. It's been over 25 years since I did one of these and I don't remember what I did to it. Did I do good or screw up? Wife came home at the right time, and I had her push the pedal and I got most all of the old brake fluid out and new in to cylinder. Chris

Thanks, I think when I get the other kit and put it in, I'll put some brake fluid on cylinder walls just to see. You said earlier that if I need parts, to contact you. Where are you located? I'm just south of Ill.92, 30 mi west of Rock Island,4 mi from Ia. I have a old 750,1144 ch and 15' platform. 2-750's for parts, 1-63 and 2-44 cornheads and 2 13' tables. Get quite a few parts out of there, but sometimes what I need is already gone, or not worth taking off. If you need cornhead parts, I can help. Chris

The wheel cylinder kits I used to install on vehicles had a capsule that was filled with silicone or synthetic grease to coat the wall for installation.

Petroleum grease or oil will deteriorate or attack the rubber.Brake fluid would have been a good idea, but should be OK
