Where did the beans go?

So I have been in the combine too long! Thinking too much again. Here is what popped in my head today.
Lets say we plant our beans and get a final stand of 180,000 seeds/acre. If there are 2500 seeds in a pound we planted 72 pounds to the acre, well actually more but that is what came up anyways... bear with me here. So that is 1.2 bushels to the acre. So if each plant represents a seed, and it does! Technically if each plant beared one bean we would get back what we planted or 1.2 bushels per acre. Now if each plant bears say 50 pods with 2 seeds in each pod that is 100 beans per plant and that should equate to 120 bushels per acre minus a loss of say 10 bushels so we should have at least 100 bushels. So is my math wrong or are we losing beans somewhere? I can't figure what isn't adding up! Will post some pictures if I can remember to grab the camera. Put it in the pickup this morning but forgot to put it in the cab with me.

I used to question that same math for many years- good way to occupy oneself while combining, but never figured out the answer.

The CANADA GEESE are gleaning the field around here like hoover sweepers. So the goast beans out the back of the cumbine for now are fat in a goose. I would take 72 bu. any day with 9 dollars beans at the elevator in centeral IL.

Neighbor hauled in his beans last week and they would not take em, moldy. So he is a bit upset. High prices and he cant sell em or feed them. So I guess they are gonna become fertilizer.

Ouch. What moisture did they test at? Might want to suggest he get a moisture meter. Well worth the $150.

Our corn is sprouting with all the rain we had over the last two weeks. Germination is even better than what I got this spring when I had to replant a couple fields! Ears are still pointing up, so they funneled water right to the butt and it stayed there. Some sprouts are several inches long.

Useing your numbers I come up with 72 bushel then take off your 10 bushel loss that makes 62 bu.to the acre.
