Notice DEERE parts shows two different setups, the one has the needle AND main jet as part of the solenoid: The solenoid and the replacement needle you have are for the OTHER version, where the main jet remains in the carburetor, and the needle tip STICKS OUT OF the solenoid. The part number you have for the solenoid, RE19408, and the part number you have for the manual adjustment kit, RE19406, apply to the LOWER drawing. The DEERE part # for the solenoid you NEED is AR67706, @ about $200.00. Have you removed the adjusting screw from the defective solenoid you have, and seen what's in there? That type of solenoid has a needle COMPLETELY inside the solenoid, forced shut by a spring, when the solenoid is deactivated, and pulled out against the adjusting screw, when the solenoid IS activated. If you have the little needle, it should function somewhat along with the external adjustment screw, IF the spring has been removed that forces it closed. Or, did they remove the needle, as well? Key # 17, in the first drawing, is the INTERNAL stuff in the solenoid you have, part # AT31442, @ 63.00, NOT a REAL cost-effective way to get your "dead" solenoid working in manual mode IF those parts are missing from yours.
