I read the article on your receiving your fathers McCormick Deering 10-20. Do you know what the original paint looked like? We have a 1929 and want to paint it like the original. We have a lot of changes in the paint from the archives but can't find out what it started out as.

The 10-20 we had was painted gray and it wasn't very dark as this 22-36 was painted. Hal

We had a 1926 10-20 bought before I was born. I wasn't very old and could crank that engine easily. It replaced a Fordson. It was converted to rubber tires later on. Hal

That is a good story, thanks for the pics. You are really fortunate that they are staying in the family. My grandfather and father always traded thiers all off. I've got one from my grandfather on my mother's side, a c case.

Great to see tractors staying in the family. I bought my Dad"s first tractor back about a year ago (42 Farmall H). The look on his face when he got on and drove it again will be with me forever.

Keep us updated with pictures of the restoration!!

Here is the story. These have been sitting for at least 50 years at Grandma's house. Grandma is 93 and still living at the farm. She is wanting to get everything to the kids and grandkids. I end up taking things that no one else wants. Both the 26 and the 27 are coming with me from Iowa back to Missouri. I will probably restore the 27 first and get it ready for a festival back in Iowa - labor day 2009. That gives me the deadline. My uncles told me stories about using the tractors to plow the fields so it will be great to get them going and let them relive a few memories. I plan to park them by my 2005 105 hp McCormick.

Dave: I've got a very tired, very well used (lots of greasy fingerprints, tape, etc) IH parts book TC-1 for "McC-Drg 10-20 HP Gear Drive Tractor, Regular and Narrow Tread". Printing date ? "30M--8-28" on inside front cover. $5 plus mailing if you need one (sorry, no dig cam/scanner). Email for better desc. Good luck.
