Had one like that for a while, think it was 1967. Excellent machine. Mine caught fire by a borrower. Insurance only went 2800. Sell around here for $5000 or so.

As I recall, late model Dextas were called 2000 Super Dextas. Paint job was blue and gray, with gray on hood. I think the hour meter/tachometer was separate from the dash board, under the steering column. Gas engines in Dextas were rare, but I have seen one. I've never owned one and rarely driven one so I could be mistaken on details.
Your tractor could have been put together from parts from other tractors and the hood may not match the model.

Bob, I"m looking at a photo book Titled "Ford Farm Tractors of the 1950"s. Author Randy Leffingwell. Its loaded with large photos of all the tractors everyone mentioned. Try to find a copy. It appears the front grill area is from a Dexta and the top hood is from a 2000. The side panels of the hood don"t match anything exactly. I"m guessing, just like the other guys. These tractors were not identical with different badging. It"s possible someone crashed the nose of the tractor and replaced it with a horse of a different color that would bolt on. Start research with all the serial numbers on the entire tractor. Great Restoration job- we like seeing tractors working.

That's a Dexta with a Perkins engine. Dunno where to find the numbers on a Dexta, but if it was labeled a 2000, it dates somewhere between 62 and 64...

You're the lucky owner of a Super Dexta Ford. Supers have a copy of the Perkins 3 cyl 152 cu. in diesel. One of the best engines ever produced combined with a great transmission. I bought mine new in Nov. of 1963. Supers were produced until 1964.

Dear Bob-
The information that I have found on the Ford 2000 is that they were made from 1962-1975. The Diesel engine was an option for that model. The serial number can be found stamped in the upper right front corner of the transmission. Once you find the S/N you can find the year trough further research on the web. Thats all I have for now. Good luck, Gojo

I just found your photo in the gallery. It's not a 2000. It looks like a Fordson and I'm not too familiar with those. Probably a Dexta, but others will be more expert than me.

I'm with you on that, but didn't they call the late Dextas a 2000? Probably what he has.

Me too,but my uncle bought a new Dexta in the late 50s. I was thinking that the first 2000s looked just like it.

Iknow it was a 2000 becuse I had to grind all the stuff off the hood. I have been told it is from the 50s but am not sure. All the numbers people tell me to check are not on my.

Let's start with the engine: 3 cyl or 4 cyl?

The answer to that will send us in the right direction.

Here's an idea: go to the photo gallery on this site and type in Ford 2000 in the search box. See if you find any tractors that look like yours. Then type in Dexta and see if anything like yours comes up.
